Family Adventure Holiday in the Cairngorms

    Family Adventure Holiday

April saw the launch of our new Family Adventure Holiday in the Cairngorms National Park. Our group of 3 families came together to enjoy a week of multi-activities which included mountain biking, canoeing, archery and wilderness bushcraft among others.

There were many many smiles and lots of laughter but we’ll let the video tell the story of our new Family Adventure Holiday.

What makes our Family Holidays Different

The big difference is our guides. They really are a dream team that combine exceptional knowledge and skill in the great outdoors, with friendly personalities that you’ll find it hard not to warm to. Knowing every bend in the trail, meander in the river and all the wildlife our groups encounter, means that they can tailor the daily outings to people’s fitness and ability so you hit the sweet-spot in terms of family adventure that pleases all parties.

We love dreaming up ideas that we’d love to do ourselves and we looked at a range of different options for building the ultimate family adventure holiday until we found something that means big kids as well as small, enjoy every minute.

    Location

Based within the stunning surrounds of the Cairngorms National Park means that families can enjoy easy access by train, plane or car but that’s just the start. The Cairngorms are crammed full of dramatic mountains and sparkling lochs; some of those lochs even have castles on them. The forests give shelter to many types of wildlife including deer, pine martens, red squirrels and capercaillie (Britain’s largest grouse).

    Activities

Where do we start? No family adventure holiday would be complete without a whole host of activities to keep the youngies and oldies amused from breakfast till dinner and eager for more the next day. Famous for its salmon fishing and know as Scotland’s fastest flowing river, the River Spey becomes our playground for a day’s canoeing as we enjoy some relaxed paddling on the gentle sections with the mountains as a backdrop. Part of the canoeing trip includes stopping off to hone your target practice as we shoot some arrows Robin Hood style before jumping back in the canoes.

Another big highlight is the bushcraft day which sees everyone muck-in to build shelters, collect tinder and light fires to cook the marshmallows on. There’s a buzz of activity as everyone rushes to be the first to make fire and a real excitement when the first flames appear and the fire’s started.

There are of course many other activities we do on the family holidays like mountain biking, walking and river tubing so hopefully the pictures above give you a real taste for adventure.
