West Coast Walking - Skye, Ben Nevis and Glencoe

Trip Highlights: Walking in Skye, Ben Nevis and Glencoe:

  • Hiking on the Isle of Skye, climbing the Cuillin mountains exploring the Storr and Skye's wonderful coastline
  • A climb to the summit of Ben Nevis, with the option of following a quiet and spectacular route from which passes underneath its incredible north face cliffs
  • Walking in Glencoe, with its dark history and stunning vistas of mountains and the western seaboard

Experience hiking in Scotland’s most famous mountain ranges on this walking holiday for private groups. You’ll cross over the sea to Skye and spend 3 days enjoying its unbeatable mountain, glen and coastal walks. Then returning to the mainland, you will climb Scotland’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis, and also discover the haunting beauty and dark history of Glencoe.

Spending 3 nights each on Skye and then in Fort William, your guide will lead you on a different hike each day. In a private group, the guide can tailor each day's route to match your fitness levels, experience and ambition. This may involve scrambles in the Black Cuillin, a long day on Ben Nevis and ascents of Glencoe’s big peaks. Alternatively, it you could enjoy leisurely coastal walks in each location – or a combination of hill and low-level walks. On a bespoke trip, it's largely up to our guide to advise while you to choose the routes!

Approximate price based on a group of 6: £795 per person
This includes 6 nights guest house accommodation with breakfast and packed lunch each day, the services of an experienced Wilderness Scotland guide throughout the holiday, transport in a private vehicle and a boat trip while on Skye.

Walking Holiday: Skye, Ben Nevis and Glencoe - Sample Itinerary

Day 1 – Meet our guide at Inverness and travel to Skye, with a walk on route if time permits.

Day 2 – Walks in the north of Skye, visiting the incredible rock features of The Storr, the Quiraing and the Old Man of Storr.

Day 3 – A boat takes us into Loch Coruisk at the foot of the Skye Cuillins. We enjoy a walk around this dramatic loch before traveling back out on the boat.

Day 4 – A day in the mountains or glens of the Cuillins, perhaps hiking up Glamaig or Bruach na Frithe, or enjoying a low level walk in Glen Sligachan, which splits the Red Cuillin from the Black Cuillin. Travel south to Fort William.

Day 5 – We travel to Glencoe where we can choose from any of its superb mountains, such as Buachaille Etive Mor, or perhaps explore some of its other fascinating features such as the Lost Valley.

Day 6 – A hike up Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in Scotland and always a memorable day out.

Day 7 – Depending on your onward travel plans, your guide will lead a walk if there is time available. There are many superb walks in this area, so you will be spoiled for choice!
