ACTIVITIES - OPEN CANOEING
Open Canoeing Holidays, Courses and Expeditions in Scotland
Our open canoeing holidays are a superb way to discover and explore the wilderness regions of Scotland. Canoes are a great way to travel in the wilderness as they are fairly easy to handle and can carry all of your kit - which is a lot less demanding than carrying it on your back!
Our canoe trips are mostly wilderness expeditions involving wild camping in remote locations but we also run some trips which are based from hotels and enjoy day paddles on rivers and lochs each day.
The 'Lochs and Mountains' trip combines canoeing and walking to explore wild regions of Scotland. The grade reflects the two activities and the fact that some portages are involved.
Contrastingly, the 'Great Glen' and 'River Spey Descent' trips are less of a wilderness experience but involve a rewarding point to point journey over several days. Canoeing is a wonderful past-time, and our range of trips offer something for every taste and ability.
Our open canoeing holidays in Scotland include the following itineraries (click on the links for further information):
- Canoeing the Scottish Classics (Green)
- The Great Glen Canoe Trail Expedition (Blue)
- River Spey Descent (Camping or in Hotels) (Blue)
- North West Highlands Lochs and Mountains (Red)
Our Trip Grades and What to Expect
To enable you to choose the right trip for you, we have devised our own Trip grading system. This organises all of our trips by difficulty and comfort level. We have produced a short, inspiring video to help explain how our Open Canoeing trip grades work and what to expect on a typical day.
