      Join the Wilderness Scotland Marketing Team

      This position will play an important role in the company, working to promote both the Wilderness Scotland and Wilderness Ireland brands by connecting with a defined audience. This role would suit an aspirant or established travel writer looking to specialise in that niche, while at the same time interested in a more varied marketing support role.

      • Office Time – 95%  In the field – 5%
      • Salary – £25,000-£28,000 per annum dependent on experience

      What We're Looking For

      We are seeking a creative thinker that is willing to integrate with and work as part of a committed team. You will make informed decisions and crucially work collaboratively as part of a team of in-house experts and agency friends. Your innovative nature allows you to identify opportunities and your initiative allows you to act on them.

      Content Creation/Copywriting
      The ability to go beyond the obvious and identify what makes an engaging story. To research that story, find an angle and bring it to life in writing, while working with our designer to visualise that story creatively. You should be comfortable writing for multiple mediums and adjusting your approach as appropriate. A passion to share inspiring stories and high quality, relevant information is a must.

      Content Planning and Distribution
      Working within the marketing team means generating content to promote our own adventure tours at Wilderness Scotland and Wilderness Ireland and also servicing the needs of our trade partners. This requires the maintenance of a content calendar, the creation and curation of high quality written content, content requests and proactive image and video library management with our key trade partners.

      The successful candidate will show an aptitude for distributing content across a number of channels. That will involve teamwork, developing relationships and levering the power of media partners, social channels, PR and personalised email. This would also include growing the reach of those channels to relevant audiences.

      Digital Experience
      You will be comfortable working in a digital world, so a strong working knowledge of CMSs and ESPs, CRM and social media will be necessary. Your eye for a story will translate into engaging social media posts.

      Campaigns and Promotions
      Working with the Business Development Manager and Head of Marketing, you will help support the creation and execution of campaigns and promotions across our trade and direct product.

      With the role being a split of 95% in the office and 5% out of the office we would expect the successful candidate to be travelling around Scotland, occasionally joining our group or press trips, interviewing experts and focussing on generating high quality relevant content to be edited and distributed.

      Aviemore – 95% office based, 5% content generation across Scotland & Ireland

      Responsibilities & Expectations

      Essentially the role can be described as the creation, curation and distribution of highly relevant content that awakens the senses and creates an emotional connection with our core audience, both trade and direct. You will work with focus, efficiency within a fun team to achieve the goals set out in our marketing strategy. This will involve:

      • A deep understanding of our traveller personas.
      • The creation of new and the repurposing of existing content for both Scotland and Ireland brands and for direct and trade business, across multiple channels.
      • That creation and editing will be weighted towards your skills and persuasive copywriting will make up a significant part of the role of communicating that content across multiple channels.
      • Management of website, CRM and email content.
      • The ability to report on key metrics related to the role.
      • Providing an additional point of contact for trade partner marketing enquiries.
      • Experience of working on Macs with CRM, CMS, Email and Cloud applications.

      Skills, Knowledge & Experience

      • Minimum of 3 years relevant marketing experience, ideally gained within the travel industry.
      • Practical experience of all or most of the activities offered by Wilderness Scotland and Wilderness Ireland.
      • Practical travel experience of Scotland and Ireland, particularly of the Highlands and Islands and west Ireland.
      • A true understanding of how to make a human connection with content in an increasingly digital world.
      • The ability to create relevant, authentic content that awakens the senses and tells a story to the viewer.
      • Image editing skills would be beneficial.
      • Great ITC skills including G-Suite, Mac equivalent, plus experience of CRM systems.
