Alasdair Cain aka Cube

Alasdair CainMe in 3 – enthusiastic | passionate | inquisitive

Place to Play – Road biking in Perthshire, loads of permutations in this varied and scenic landscape.

Not a lot of people know this – Once upon a time I used to go to work in a suit.

Mini Bio – Based in Kingussie, a small village in the Scottish Highlands, I have been called Cube far longer than my ‘normal’ name. I have worked and climbed as a mountain guide for the last 30 years in various capacities in many parts of the world including here in the local Cairngorm Mountains.

In my spare time I have also explored Scotland in my sea kayak and on a tandem bicycle with my partner Shona. In the last 10 years I have become a passionate road biker and having recently written a guide to road biking in Scotland I have discovered parts of my country that I never knew existed.

Adventurer's Stories about Alasdair

Dave and Kelty were brilliant, their support throughout and in particular Dave’s encouragement and guidance during the more arduous climbs were both welcomed and well placed.

We can’t cheer loud enough for our guides. Knowledgeable, accommodating, pleasant, funny, flexible, supportive. We learned about history, had great fun riding, and felt listened to at all times. Bravo bravo bravo
Kelly Rubin
Our guides were great and added a lot to the trip. They were experienced, insightful and knowledgable about the geography and history of the area. And best of all they were just fun people to hang out with.

One specific- I liked that they took turns riding and driving the van so that we got to spend time with both guides during the ride.
Colby Van Vooren
Both excellent with vast and complimentary range of knowledge.
Have got me hooked on cycling, cleats and a cycle camp in Mallorca next Spring, wonder if I'll still be singing Cube's praises slogging up 'lumpy' Mallorcan terrain?
Victor Johnston
From the moment we met up with the guides at the start of the trip to when we were dropped off at the end, we had a very relaxing time and knew that everything had and would be taken care off..... even my marmite request for breakfast was answered!!
We very much enjoyed hearing about the wildlife and geographical points of interest along the way too. Both guides were very encouraging and it was lovely to be complimented at the end of each day that we had done well!
Mark Hynes
Alasdair and Henry were excellent, Alasdair guided us on the bikes ensuring that we were well informed about the landscape and local history whilst keeping us safe. Henry was always there in support making sure that everything ran smoothly in the background. Both were great company for the whole trip.
John Tite
Alasdair was a first rate guide and very sensitive to our needs at all times. He was very reassuring and we felt very safe in his hands.
