I learnt to ski when I was a wee nipper and have never really looked back. A politics degree wasn’t really going to change my love of snow sports so I decided to make the move to the Highlands for good and build a career teaching in the outdoors.

I have worked winters on Cairngorm Mountain ever since and have had the pleasure to meet amazing people from all over the world and work alongside some of the most fantastic instructors. My summers used to be taken up with coaching tennis and I still keep up with this, but I suppose my midlife discovery (definitely not a crisis!) is Mountain Biking. There’s not many activities you can do with friends that create the feelings of excitement, freedom, adrenalin, peace and achievement all in one ride.

    Adventurer's Stories about Amanda

Nothing was too much trouble for Amanda and 'Pep-talk' Dave, they both put themselves out to be supportive and helpful throughout!

Excellent. Guides were great company and worked hard the whole time to look after the group. Because the weather was so wet I would have preferred to miss out some of the sightseeing stops and just keep cycling to keep warm.

Amanda and Dave couldn’t have looked after us better. We were kept safe motivated and entertained. Their warmth enthusiasm knowledge and love of riding was great to share.

Could not have asked for better guides. Being the slowest in the group they looked after me well. Amanda and Jono were exceptional. They took such good care of me. Their organisation was first class the trip went without a hinch.

We had the good fortune to have the guiding 'dream team' in Amanda & Jono! They really were first class, very sensitive to the group dynamic and gently helping us all make the right choices to keep us all happy. A great skill which meant we all relaxed and got what we hoped to from the trip.

They were both excellent guides on the trails, providing us with loads of information on the landscape we were passing through, and also providing plenty of technical guidance to help conquer the trails and improve riding skills.

Both were fantastic fun too! Evening chat was always full of stories and laughter!

I have been on several adventure trips with other companies and I have to say that Amanda & Jono were 5 star guides. They payed attention to our individual needs and balanced it together for a wonderful trip. They both shared personal stories, history and I felt I knew so much more about Scotland than I ever expected. I also appreciated them working with me (I had hurt my knee and was limited) but they made sure I was comfortable and still enjoyed myself the entire time. I just can't say enough about these two as a team. They are truly wonderful people and perfect guides.

I can't say enough good things about Jono and Amanda. I really, really enjoyed the way they put it all together to create a fantastic trip. I would ride with either one of them again in a heartbeat. They're very good at accommodating different levels of rider abilities.

Johno and Amanda really made the trip enjoyable. They made everyone in the group no matter the skill level included in the trip. Knowledge of area traveled was excellent, could tell they had done planning for trip before hand. Both taught me new skills and help developed my mountain biking skills over the trip. Planned to do a lot more biking after the trip. And hopefully will be back with wilderness Scotland to do the isle of Harris/Lewis biking trip in a year or two.

Guided by Jono and Amanda- couldn’t rate them mire highly. We’re already talking about another trip in a few years time, we hope to get them as guides then! They were great company as well as great guides. They were a real highlight of the trip, and catered to all of our varying levels. Nothing was too much for them- they were spot on.

    Make Trip Private

Sometimes it's nice to get family and friends together and travel privately for some quality time. This means you benefit from all the features of the group departure, including hand-picked accommodation and expert local guides and we'll take care of it all. Then you can make your choice of departures dates and we'll get back to you to finalise the details.

We work together with our team of guides to decide which departures they lead each year. As part of that, guides provide available dates that they are free to be booked. This means that any of the dates you see in the first field of the form below, could be perfect for your private departure or customised tour.
