    Mini Bio

Ever since my first backpacking and wild camping trip along the South West Coast Path aged 11, the mountains and sea have held a strong allure. I first visited Scotland in 2014 for the Scottish Islands Peaks Race and there was no going back. After a short-lived career in Mechanical Engineering I moved to the Isle of Harris in the Outer Hebrides to start a sea kayaking business. Covid-19 necessitated a pivot and I’m now attempting to suffuse our secondary school pupils with some knowledge of Mathematics.

    Favourite Place to Play

The Outer Hebrides! Running in the deserted North Harris hills in the morning and kitesurfing at Seilebost beach in the afternoon. Sea kayaking here will challenge the most committed and daring paddlers! I’ve also got a soft spot for Loch Tay and the Lawers ridge where my first days in Scotland were spent.

Not a lot of People Know This

I have a penchant for crochet – my finest product is a pair of leather-soled slippers.

I’ve worked in aerospace engineering offices and petrochemical complexes, but have gradually realised that it is people who bring satisfaction and contentment to work and life. Making an impact on somebody’s day, be that a nervous sea kayaker or a struggling pupil, is what inspires and motivates me most.

A 9 month trip to the USA and New Zealand aged 18 for all the formative ‘what-do-I-do-now?!’ moments! Paddling to the Shiant Isles for the most ‘Wow’ moments in a weekend!

Flapjacks, scones, chapatis and other carbohydrate-heavy home baked treats. The Outer Hebrides have also fostered a fascination in our seabirds – my favourite is the fulmar.

What Fellow Travellers Say About Andrew

Our guide, Andrew Reese was exceptional. Andrew was punctual, considerate, knowledgeable, encouraging, flexible and fun. He knew the hiking areas extremely well and was also very good at gauging our group’s skill and energy level and adjusted activities accordingly. I came away from this trip feeling rested, accomplished and more confident about my physical abilities.

Andrew was wonderful. Very personable and excellent in guiding. He was attentive with the girls that were having a bit of a hard time and made sure everyone was having a good time. He was very quick to resolve any issues. He was a real pleasure.

The location (Isle of Skye) and the weather were amazing, but Andrew was the secret ingredient that made this trip so special. He created a very relaxed ambiance, where everybody was comfortable proposing ideas and expressing preferences. He adjusted the schedule to accommodate the group's abilities and energy levels so everybody could enjoy the hikes. The whole trip felt like a dream in great part thanks to Andrew and I hope to cross his path again in future travels with Wilderness Scotland.

Andrew Reeves was simply amazing, from the day we met till when we had to say good bye. He looked after everyone so well, and made sure that everyone's needs were catered for, by being conscious that everyone's stamina varied.
