    Mini Bio

I started out working as an outdoor instructor the summer I left school but then after doing a Maths degree at Uni I started to teach and loved it so much I stayed while we had our family of three children. Besides teaching Maths I have always run the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme in school. I have substituted the classroom for the mountains now and am excited to share my love for travel, meeting new people and being active outside through my role as an Adventure Guide with Wilderness Scotland.

    Place to Play

Mountains and beaches. Glencoe – my Munro exploits started here on a climb on the majestic Buachaille Etive Mor. I love the grandeur and remoteness of the valleys and the views from the summits. I also love Portstewart Strand beach too in the very north of Northern Ireland.

Not a lot of people Know

In the winter I run my own business organising outdoor and well-being Retreats which focus on getting outside into the hills, mindful relaxation and yoga, all fuelled by plant-based food.

I have organised lots of adventures in places such as India, French, Swiss and Italian Alps, Portugal, Morocco, the Lake District, as well as many parts of Scotland and Ireland. One of the mantras that has come out of these trips is…….”It is not how high but who with!”

    Adventurer's Stories about Caroline

Caroline and Andrew were wonderful! They made an effort to touch base with everyone of us each day. They told us what to expect on the day's hike, and gave plenty of info about our surroundings, geology, history etc. Best of all, they were a lot of fun

Caroline was so much fun. She has a great sense of humor and did a great job working the agenda around the weather.

Caroline was an excellent guide and motivator for the group as a whole and each individual. The only suggestion I would contribute is that two (2) guides would have been helpful, so that you have a leader and one in the rear. This allows more interaction with the hikers, allowance for times when a hiker or hikers are slower than others and most important, safety. If you are to have only 1 guide, the guide needs to spend the majority of the hikes in the center of the pack, so that he/she has eyes on all hikers at all times and the hikers have eyes on the guide at all times.

Caroline is an excellent, experienced and very knowledgeable guide. She is also engaging, witty and an inclusive person. She curated each day of our retreat based on the weather which I can appreciate as being a challenge at times. She facilitated as much team bonding on the trails as off and ensured that all the participants felt valued and part of the group. This paid dividends early as it was not a day into the retreat that we had lively conversations in the lodge around meals. Lots of laughter and sharing personal experiences. Caroline's leadership style suited the group very well and help ensure that we had wonderful, shared experiences that I know I will remember for a long time.

Caroline Hart was an exceptional guide. Her understanding of the abilities of the group members allowed us all to achieve our individual best performance. This was done in a fun and encouraging way. She was caring, witty, sensitive, very experienced, knowledgeable, approachable at all times, engaging and most of all very safety conscious. She made the trip the exciting adventure we had all hoped it would be and more!

Sometimes it's nice to get family and friends together and travel privately for some quality time. This means you benefit from all the features of the group departure, including hand-picked accommodation and expert local guides and we'll take care of it all. Then you can make your choice of departures dates and we'll get back to you to finalise the details.

We work together with our team of guides to decide which departures they lead each year. As part of that, guides provide available dates that they are free to be booked. This means that any of the dates you see in the first field of the form below, could be perfect for your private departure or customised tour.
