Adventurer's Stories about Craig
The itinerary changed somewhat. But we worked well with the guides to create a once in a lifetime experience.

Craig and Will were excellent. We were well taken care of (spoiled at times!) and learned lots from them. Felt lucky to have these guys leading the way.

Craig - very professional, calm, amusing and knowledgable. Laura - so capable, very cheerful and her knowledge of Scotland and the local area in particular was inspirational.

Craig was an excellent guide, good humour and a great knack of offering paddling tips at just the right moment! It was really nice that he gave us time to actually enjoy being where we were instead of being hurried on to the next thing (which I have experienced elsewhere).
Laura has a lovely cheery nature and so hard working. When we walked the hills she kept an eye on me at the back but I never felt pressured or hurried to catch up.
The pair of them were seamless in their execution and worked really well together. I felt very safe and happy under their guidance.

Count yourself lucky if either Craig or Will are on your trip. Both are great cmpany, considerate and supportive. Will's an encyclopaedia, and Crag combines warmth and a dry humour that is not an easy mix to achieve. A great crack (craic).

Guides were good, friendly, cooked good meals but felt let down by lack of tuition in canoe and not keeping us all together, some members of team were left to far behind.
TEAM WILDERNESS RESPONSE:
Our trips are holidays rather than courses, so the emphasis is on the journey rather than developing technical skills. That said, our guides should ensure that everyone has enough coaching to ensure that they are comfortable paddling in the conditions encountered. Our guides would typically go further than this and offer to provide some additional coaching at points through the day to those who are interested in developing their skills further. We'll follow up with your guides to make sure it happens next time.

Faultless. Craig was the perfect guide blending good humour, an easy manner and obvious experience and enthusiasm. Needs to work on his custard though....

Craig's laid-back style was ideal for this trip. However he worked hard to ensure we were all happy - and safe. Full marks to his wife Heather, too.

I could not fault the work that Craig and Heather put into the trip. It was great to have a female guide as a single female travelling alone. Both guides worked very hard to ensure that all guests had the best time.

Both Craig and Laura were brilliant at making sure everyone in the group had what they needed - particularly when doing something challenging or out of their comfort zone. They were also great teachers and I left the holiday with a sense of achievement of having done a challenging trip and learned new skills. Finally, they were lovely, fun people to spend time with who clearly enjoyed spending time outdoors - all in all, ideal guides for such a demanding trip.

Our guides Craig and Laura made our trip an absolute joy and I can't rate them highly enough. I always felt that they took both our safety and our enjoyment very seriously, and I liked that they shared their decisions about routes etc with the group. They worked hard to build up our canoe skills and remained calm and encouraging during some challenging paddling conditions. They also encouraged teamwork within the group which is really important. But above all, it's clear that they love doing what they do and this added to our enjoyment of the trip, and they made sure we made the most of the beautifully wild place that we'd worked so hard to reach!

Guides were great - Craig the sardonic king of campfire cookery and the lovely ever-smiling Liam were both very good humoured, patient, and kind. They dealt with unpredictable conditions with good grace, and joined in campfire games in full.

A bit more instruction in basic strokes would have given me more confidence in my ability to help steer the canoe. On the plus side, Craig and Mark were very encouraging and upbeat and I had a lot of confidence in their ability to get us out of trouble if we got into it.
