    Mini Bio

I regularly enjoy both rock and winter climbing in the UK and Europe and am a keen fell runner, currently training for the Bob Graham Round. I am a competent skier, mountain biker, am passionate about music and play the guitar. I enjoy wildlife and my two border terrier dogs often accompany me on my adventures. Some of my most memorable days in the hills have been a traverse of the Cuillin Ridge on Skye, winter ascents of Tower Ridge and Point Five Gully on Ben Nevis, the Fisherfield Six, the Bolgen Icefall in Norway and climbing the Matterhorn.

    Places to play

I often can be found in the English Lake District or the Highlands of Scotland but I love to explore Scandinavia and the Alps at any opportunity. Northern Finland in the wintertime could be my favourite place in the world!

Not a lot of people know this

I know the words to nearly every song written by Bob Dylan.

    Experience Read More

I am a qualified teacher with twenty five years experience in the classroom and I have been responsible for delivering outdoor education including the Duke of Edinburgh Award to a number of schools since I qualified in 1997. I have been guiding people in the UK now for over five years with a growing list of adventures including the National 3 Peaks challenge, the Yorkshire 3 Peaks and numerous hill walking challenges in the English Lake District. Guiding people in the hills, helping others to achieve personal challenges and goals is simply brilliant. What a wonderful feeling to collectively enjoy the view, stare at the stars, look towards a distant peak or peer out over the sea from a position out in the wilderness. Often, this is an experience that is never forgotten and becomes a lifelong memory for all.

    Biggest adventure Read More

I set off on my Alpine climbing adventure when I was eighteen years old. A friend and I went halves on an old VW van, fixed it up, fitted it out and headed to Chamonix. We climbed to the summit of Mont Blanc and only just made it back down in one piece. I remain committed to this ongoing adventure to this very day!
