My mum always said I came into the world on two wheels and she wasn’t wrong as cycling has been a big part of my life. I grew up in Bradford, West Yorkshire where I was surrounded by old mills, big hills and the chance of adventure. As a youngster with only an old, steel-framed bicycle with very few gears, I soon discovered what hard work and determination meant when attempting to cycle up and over some of the most demanding hill climbs in Yorkshire.

At the age of 24, that determination led me into a successful career as a vehicle mechanic in the British Army. I was encouraged to compete in various sporting activities including fell running, cycle racing and Duathlons.

Now semi-retired, I work within the cycling industry as a cycle tour leader. I also teach children and adults the essentials of bike riding, maintenance and road safety.

In my spare time, I dismantle and service my own bikes then try to remember how to put them back together!

    Place to Play

As a Yorkshire lass, I like nothing more than tackling the hills and dales of Yorkshire either on two legs or two wheels.

Not a lot of people know this

At the age of 48, I qualified for The Great Britain Triathlon Age Group Team, competing in the European Standard Distance Duathlon. I was also crowned The Army Woman’s Road Race Champion of 2019.

Wild night camping in the subtropical jungle of Belize. Not so great if you don’t like big, hairy spiders and creepy-crawlies.

Jo was amazing. So likable and funny, but also focused, organized and gave clear directions. Mungo was so kind and had great stories. They seemed to work well together.

Jo was a lot of fun. We joked with each other all week. She also did a great job keeping the bikes going, giving us route info, and honestly worked her ass off all week.
Mungo did a great job with the picnic lunches and made sure we were well fed.

Graham the group leader had to go home at the end of the first day because of illness and so Jo his assisstant stepped up to the role of leader with great success. Both Jo and Mungo her last minute replacement as assistant leader were excellant. They both provided all the necessary advice and guidance as required and could not have been more helpfull. Jo provided expert advice on all things cycling whilst Mungo`s knowledge of the Scottish Highlands was inspiring.
