Jonathan Baldwin (Jono)

Me in three words – Enthusiastic, Patient and Motivational.

Place to Play – Sweet steep single tracks, and my guilty pleasure Carrbridge Golf course!

Not a lot of people know this – I have cooked for the Queen and she said she liked it!

Qualifications – Mountain Bike Leader with all-bolt-ons (night, winter, Exped leader) and Velotech Gold Cycle mechanic.

Mini Bio – Originally from the South of England I moved up to the Highlands of Scotland. After completing a full career of 24 years in the British Army travelling to the four corners of the world, I embarked on a new career in the outdoor adventure industry. In the summer I’m a mountain bike guide and a keen road biker, hiker and enjoy bike packing.  In the winter I’m a ski and snowboard instructor. I get a great buzz from teaching people the basics of skiing and snowboarding and seeing them develop and get the winter sports bug.  When I not guiding or teaching I can be found out in the Cairngorm Mountains and the Northern Highlands in both summer and winter on my bike, skis or splitboard and generally enjoying being out in the fresh Scottish air.

Biggest Adventure – My biggest adventure was in 2014 trekking to Basecamp Mount Everest. This was a lifelong dream after seeing pictures of Mount Everest taken by my grandfather who served with the Ghurka’s in WW11. I followed in his footsteps and served 24 years in the Army and also managed to serve with these very special soldiers. This trip was also made special as it was my first of many adventures with my partner. I was in total awe of the country both in Kathmando and when we where trekking through the beautiful scenery that changed with every corner of the trail.

Specialist Subject – Local history of the Cairngorms, Badenoch and Strathspey.
