I lived for many years in the colourful, cultural city of Brighton, on the South coast of England. I worked with adults and children with Learning disabilities and as a Primary School Teacher in both Mainstream and Special Education. Led by an uncontainable urge to seek more adventure I decided to get on my bike and cycled around parts of France, Italy and Spain for a year of wild camping as I went along. Feeling an inner calling to Scotland as I pedalled along, and unquenchable love of nature, I moved up to the Cairngorms and retrained as an Outdoor Instructor. I now work at an Outdoor Residential Centre near Aviemore providing experiences in climbing, canoeing, mountain biking, gorge walking and hill walking. I also lead overseas expeditions and most recently went to Costa Rica and Borneo. I am always happy to return to the Cairngorm mountains which have now become my home.
I continue to find new places to explore around the Cairngorms and am equally happy returning to my old favourites as the season’s pass to bivvy under a granny Pine or nestle myself in the aged branches of a gnarled Silver Birch. I am also particularly drawn to the lunar-like landscape of Assynt in the North West of Scotland exploring the mountains and waters and the inevitable boglands.
I have a love of collective nouns with some of my favourites being a Walk of Snails, an Incredulity of Cuckolds, a Crash of Rhino and a Bloat of Hippopotamuses.
Leaving my flat in Brighton with all my belongings packed on my bike and with the help of a few ferries, cycling through France, Corsica, Sardinia, Mainland Italy, Sicily and Spain for a year, experiencing the kindness of strangers and lots of hills.
There are so many things that interest me, it would be hard to specialise in just one.
I am an unpublished author of an as yet unfinished children’s story entitled ‘The Land the Planes Forgot’ – the adventures of a 9 yr old girl called Elsie set in the lands of natural magic, wonderment and toffee cream tart.

Sometimes it's nice to get family and friends together and travel privately for some quality time. This means you benefit from all the features of the group departure, including hand-picked accommodation and expert local guides and we'll take care of it all. Then you can make your choice of departures dates and we'll get back to you to finalise the details.
We work together with our team of guides to decide which departures they lead each year. As part of that, guides provide available dates that they are free to be booked. This means that any of the dates you see in the first field of the form below, could be perfect for your private departure or customised tour.
