    Mini Bio

I lived for many years in the colourful, cultural city of Brighton, on the South coast of England. I worked with adults and children with Learning disabilities and as a Primary School Teacher in both Mainstream and Special Education. Led by an uncontainable urge to seek more adventure I decided to get on my bike and cycled around parts of France, Italy and Spain for a year of wild camping as I went along. Feeling an inner calling to Scotland as I pedalled along, and unquenchable love of nature, I moved up to the Cairngorms and retrained as an Outdoor Instructor. I now work at an Outdoor Residential Centre near Aviemore providing experiences in climbing, canoeing, mountain biking, gorge walking and hill walking. I also lead overseas expeditions and most recently went to Costa Rica and Borneo. I am always happy to return to the Cairngorm mountains which have now become my home.

    Places to play

I continue to find new places to explore around the Cairngorms and am equally happy returning to my old favourites as the season’s pass to bivvy under a granny Pine or nestle myself in the aged branches of a gnarled Silver Birch. I am also particularly drawn to the lunar-like landscape of Assynt in the North West of Scotland exploring the mountains and waters and the inevitable boglands.

Not a lot of people know this

I have a love of collective nouns with some of my favourites being a Walk of Snails, an Incredulity of Cuckolds, a Crash of Rhino and a Bloat of Hippopotamuses.

    Adventurer's Stories about Rebecca

Our guide was a part holistic healer, informational guru, and hiking instructor. She really made the trip for us and we could tell she had a deep appreciation for the surroundings and nature. Kind and gentle.

Rebecca was so much fun. So knowledgeable and easy-going. She seemed to have a good feel for the group, and helped create a warm, welcoming environment. I felt very relaxed with her leading us. It was so nice to just turn off part of my brain and walk. Not needing to think about where I was or where I was going.

Rebecca could not have done a better job. When I do plan another trip I will definitely look up the ones she is leading. She is a great communicator, very nice and friendly and has a lot of knowlege of Scotland. We asked her a lot of questions that she was able to answer and even gave us more info.

Rebecca was superb. An excellent hike leader, she was fully engaged with the group from the very start. She was responsive to the strengths and weaknesses of all of us and seamlessly flexed the routes if needed. If we asked a question and she did not immediately know the answer, she would always find out by the next day. She was with us all day, every day and was cheerful and professional for the whole time. Excellent!

Rebecca is a very skilled guide. She was very interested in us all as individuals and took care to meet the needs of everyone in a varied group. Her local knowledge, and more general knowledge about environmental issues, was impressive and added greatly to the experience. She was careful and caring throughout the week and made good decisions when the weather was against us.
