    Mini Bio

I’m a very keen and passionate mountaineer, climber, skier and walker, who loves spending time with people in mountainous places.

I was lucky to have been introduced to hill walking at an early age through my parents, a great school outdoor education department and committed and enthusiastic scout leaders. My passion for the mountains became more obsessive after volunteering as a hiking guide (and a glacier guide the following summer) at a Scout centre in Switzerland. After starting climbing more frequently around the same time, I enjoyed the chance to do lots of rock and winter climbing, ski touring and hill walking, and get some mountain qualifications, while at university (I did manage to do a tiny bit of studying too!).

My current focus is to try to build experience and improve my ability and confidence in climbing and mountaineering and to carry on working towards further mountain instructing qualifications.

    Places to play

I love getting out across the UK. Scotland! It’s great! The Cairngorms, West Coast and Islands (especially when it isn’t raining) in particular. The Lake District, Snowdonia and The Peak District are also pretty good! The Alps (Specifically Switzerland)

Not a lot of people know this

I once gutted, cooked and ate a squirrel.

    • Mountain Leader (Summer)
    • Rock Climbing Instructor
    • Anwärter Ski Instructor
    Experience Read More

I work freelance as an outdoor leader and instructor throughout the UK, and have been fortunate to have the opportunity to do this in Switzerland for two summer seasons too. I have also taught skiing for a season in Austria.

On my days off I try to get into the mountains and crags whenever possible. I’ve been lucky to walk and climb across the UK, in Morocco, and in the Alps.

    Biggest adventure Read More

Probably my first Alpine route, the Zackengrat on Balmhorn, but I’m always on the hunt for new adventures. I’m heading to Greenland in the summer of 2022, so this could be on its way to top in my adventure rankings!

    Specialist subjects Read More

I have a Geography degree, so probably colouring in, but I’m also pretty good on glaciers, weather/climate and environmental management. When I don’t know something, I can usually find someone who does pretty quickly!
