I would give at least 7 out of 5 in this category, maybe more for the accommodation.

The guide really took the effort to know us all and adjusted to what we and the group desired. We could not of had a better guide.
The Bottom Line
Your expectations will be exceeded. If you are lucky the group you travel with will be a great as the group I was with.

Malcom was an expert guide and kept the group happy and healthy the whole trip. Our group had very similar skill level which made all the difference. The long rides with tiring hike-a-bikes and fast descents will be a lifelong memory. This trip was a fantastic way of seeing the Highlands and having a real adventure in Scotland.!
Accommodation and Food
The food and accommodations were amazing. The Sconsor House hotel was my personal favorite.
Your Guide
Malcom is an expert guide. He ran a tight ship with the group's safety and did not take uncesssary risks.
The Bottom Line
This trip was exactly what I was hoping it would be. Challenging mountain biking, great views, and nice people.

Everything was clear and professionally presented, by comparison with like providers I thought wilderness Scotland was streets ahead in terms over covering the range of information required to make trip selection and then preparation a breeze
Trip Comments
At the rated level of the hike the 6 days included a range of different hiking experiences/terrains which kept things interesting and varied. There was a good amount of additional interest points too, the sea life on the boat ride to the island and historical info
Accommodation and Food
Aside from some slow service on our first mornings breakfast and some genuinely underwhelming coffee at the first accommodation the food options identified by our guide Ben where phenomenal, great examples of local food in all locations
Your Guide
Ben was incredibly patient and accommodating of group demands. In a group of varying ability he ensured everyone was comfortable with the hike undertaken. His passion for Scotland was very clearly on display in his provision of information concerning the locations hiked through.
The Bottom Line
As a solo traveller, this is a fantastic way to get out and see some of the more far flung parts of Scotland with a great group of people to share the experience with along the way.

The office crew responded quickly to any questions I had, including questions regarding the equipment. They seemed very knowledgeable about the specific trip I signed up for.
Trip Comments
The guides, Craig and Howard, were awesome! They were so exceptional and experienced, yet patient with our skill levels. Even though the weather was challenging almost every day, they managed to find paddling water that we could handle while improving our skills.
Accommodation and Food
I chose this trip that had accommodations as I was not up to camping at night on top of paddling during the days. The inn was above my expectations and very comfortable. The one comment I would make for the last night's dinner that was included in the trip - we really didn't need a posh place like the 1887. Just having a dinner together as a celebration but paid for by the trip would have been better in my opinion. The posh setting was a little uncomfortable when our group was more outdoorsy. Don't get me wrong - it was lovely, but it seemed strange after the prior dinners that were more relaxed with a pub atmosphere.
Your Guide
Craig and Howard were super. Very engaging, fun to talk to, and very good with managing our daily trips. They encouraged us to push ourselves without putting us in situations that were beyond our skill level. I would do another trip with either of them or better yet, both of them together again!
The Bottom Line
Wilderness Scotland seems to pay attention to details, as well as provide excellent guides. I enjoyed every day of the trip even though it was often windy and raining. It was a wonderful way to see more of Scotland while doing something active and enjoying new friendships. So glad I booked it!

Chantal answered all our questions promptly and fully. This with the added pressure that came with our late booking. She really worked her magic to make the trip happen and it did! Without a hitch!
Trip Comments
Exploring The Orkney would not have been possible without WS's expert knowledge of the area and its offerings. What I loved was how the trip unfolded, each day equally spectacular in its own way with no disappointments or false steps. Thanks to Mike Bryan we seamlessly navigated the roads, glens, and trails, always with an expansive eye on the flora and fauna. His enthusiasm and appreciation is infectious and provides a context that enhances every step of the journey.
Accommodation and Food
The Orkney Hotel was comfortable but with a few glitches. Clelia and I were on the 3rd floor so the water pressure was dismal, showers pathetic and flush toilet temperamental. The breakfasts and prepared lunches were adequate and kept us wondering: with so much excellent bread available, why not upgrade a bit? Clelia and I ate dinner at the Hotel once and it was also so so. We also ate at Lucano one night and I wouldn't go back there. Mediocre, at best. That said, we enjoyed two outstanding meals--especially our last night's fare was out of this world seafood. Chantal will have to provide the names or Mike can fill you in. Our dinner at The Ferry withered by comparison.
Your Guide
Mike exceeded my expectations in every respect. A great guide to spend time with on many levels. To begin, he is a lovely person with a big heart, concerned with our comfort and watchful for our wellbeing. He was flexible, offered alternatives, followed up on whims (ask him about arranging the Whisky tasting on the beach!). Of good humor, patient, and sensitive. A font of information about the natural and cultural history without being heavy handed or pedantic. And--and this counts for a lot in my book--was able to enjoy the silences and wonder on the road and trail.
The Bottom Line
What I loved was that everything was taken care of and our needs anticipated, seemingly "invisibly." All your hard behind-the-scenes preparation, attention to detail, and thoughtful planning crafted a no muss no fuss client experience from beginning to end.that possible. No doubt in my mind that WS strives for the best and delivers it! Thank you.
