I had a wonderful time. The trip was well planned by Wilderness Scotland to give a great experience and taste of the country and culture. Advice about equipment was helpful and accurate. Suggestions about preparation for the weather were appreciated.
Accommodation and Food
Hotels and staffs were great and comfortable. Any problems promptly attended to.
Your Guide
Tour guide Rosie McKenzie was excellent----knowledgeable and sensitive to our needs and capacities. She exceeded my expectations and made the trip something that I will always remember----including singing the Scottish Natl Anthem while driving the van. She seemed to know the answer to every question or had the answer in short order. Would definitely travel with her again.
The Bottom Line
It was a great trip and I would travel with Wilderness Scotland again.

Sight confusion over whether we had a double or single tents but apart from that we were told all we needed to know and everyone was very helpful

Brilliant guides in Howard and Sarah. Amazing to be camped on an island with no one else on it. For us oldies was great that it wasn't treated as a competitive triathlon.
Accommodation and Food
Tents were great and Howard and Sarah cooked amazing food on a camp stove
Your Guide
Howard and Sarah were both fantastic. They tailored the kayaking to our abilities and we had absolute confidence in them. The campsites were beautiful and the food was restaurant standard.
The Bottom Line
If you want to experience the beautiful wilderness of northwest Scotland up close and have a digital detox this is the trip for you

Paddling by the splendid Tanera Mór isle to dock into its unique café, still on our cagules and water shoes
Accommodation and Food
Some of the food, was too spicy for us poor Spaniards :)
Your Guide
With Howard I knew at once I would always be safe, with its thorough knowledge of the sea and isles, and his constant care. After a couple of days, I also learnt he will always guide us to where fun and natural splendor war. //// As for Sarah, she was in constant watch for us, helping me prevent and correct any mistake that could lead to trouble or unwanted exercion.
The Bottom Line
This is proper kayaking, proper wilderness camping at its best. The weather would not always be fine, and the wind not always in your favour, but that's what makes it truly special.

Rachael was fantastic and her team consisting of Mel who put together an Itinerary that was spot on!
Trip Comments
Biking around Aviemore with Sam (flipping over the front handlebars and landing in a large puddle), Kayaking off the coast of Arisaig with Nigel (and Seals), and hiking through the rain @ Glencoe (surrounded by waterfalls) with Stuart !!!
Accommodation and Food
I forgot to order our lunch the night before going out; The Old Library was very accommodating but had to scramble and find something the morning of the hike...

Our favorite place was the Apex on Grass Market due to its location and view of the castle.
Your Guide
Sam Weir, Awesome! (for an Irishman, lol) He presented us with a silver Quaich of Scottish whiskey (a very Classic gesture on your part)

Nigel, was also fantastic, (except at the end when I was looking forward to getting back he had us race around a small island and of course I was beaten by a woman)
I did especially like kayaking with others, it helped to get to know the Scottish culture better.

Stuart, younger and a little more of a daredevil blazing trails over steep terrain. His brogue was a little harder to understand but nonetheless very personable
The Bottom Line
Highly recommend Wilderness Scotland to anyone visiting (especially for the first time.) It takes the guess work out as far as places to see or accommodations which saves a lot of time (and pounds).

We even stopped by some of the recommended sites (Wallace's Monument, Urquart's castle and Dalwhinnie Distillery)

Enjoyed everything about the trip. Was glad all was taken care of for us!
Accommodation and Food
Each B&B was great! Loved them all for their different styles and perks. Edencoille was beautiful! Loved the hosts at Braeside!
Your Guide
Trip notes were great but we stilll managed to misread them sometime. The directions to Best Foot Forward could use clarification that the street to turn up from the petrol station is almost the same name as the street BEFORE the petrol station. Thus, we turned up the wrong street and went a ways out of the way....
The Bottom Line
Loved that all was taken care of. There were no glitches and all worked out perfectly! We (older folks) could have used a rest day in the middle of the trek but now we know better!! Also, an option for several shorter days (Inverarnan to Crainlarich and then Crainlarich to Tyndrum and then Tyndrum to Bridge of Orchy) would have suited us well. All in all, a fantastic trip. Loved the selection of B&Bs. It seemed as if we had the best room in the best accommodation at each location.

most of the booked activities were fantastic (especially sea kayaking). I would omit canoeing on the Caledonian canal and replace it with a guided hike up to Ben Nevis.
Accommodation and Food
Holly Tree Hotel and Ravenscraig Guesthouse were excellent places to stay. Atholl Palace is not a good hotel, maybe it once was. Lovat (Fort Augustus) and Kingsmill (Inverness) were very good.
Your Guide
Dennis was excellent. Also Fiona's bagpiping lesson was a highlight.

I owed the balance on my payment, and because I live in the US, I had to coordinate with Jane to pay over the phone at a mutually agreed upon time. She called me right on the dot and my payment over the phone couldn't have been easier!
Trip Comments
This was a once in a lifetime experience for us. The guides were wonderful (Simon and Dave). The trip was well organized and this meant that we felt very relaxed and carefree the entire time. We look forward to doing another trip with Wilderness Scotland.
Accommodation and Food
Before the trip, I was under the impression that Scottish food would be bland and tolerable at best. WRONG. The food throughout the trip was delectable and satisfying!
Your Guide
Simon and Dave were both so enthusiastic and accommodating and encouraging. They were an absolute pleasure and we couldn't have asked for better guides.
The Bottom Line
I have been telling people about my wonderful experience with Wilderness Scotland left and right! Can't wait to book another trip. You have a great company!

There was so much to like about this trip, the changing landscapes, the quality and enthusiasm of the guide and the satisfaction at the end of each day knowing you had completed the itinerary.
Accommodation and Food
Plenty of choices at each meal and clean comfortable accommodation at the end of each day not to mention the wonderful hospitality of all involved.
Your Guide
Enthusiastic, engaging and eager to please ... Simon was born to do this job. David was a great support to Simon and to the team, always there with a smile and whatever you needed to keep you focused on the completion of the ride.
The Bottom Line
Definitely one of those 'must do' experiences if you like to cycle .... the Outer Hebrides is such a unique environment that I'm not sure there is any better way to discover and enjoy all it has to offer.
