      Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrive in Edinburgh

Today you’ll make your way to Edinburgh, where you will relax into the trip with a stay at the Balmoral Hotel. With a Michelin-star restaurant, kilted doormen and an in-house spa, the Balmoral Hotel is one of most prestigious places to stay in Scotland’s capital. Overnight at the 5-star Balmoral Hotel.

Day 2 – Walking Tour of Edinburgh

Enjoy a privately guided walking tour of Edinburgh, led by an expert local guide. Your walk will include iconic sites of this historic city such as Edinburgh Castle, the Old Town, Holyrood Palace and Arthur’s Seat. Overnight at the 5-star Balmoral Hotel. (B)

Day 3 – Travel to Loch Lomond National Park

Passing Stirling Castle and Bannockburn make your way to Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. Stop off at Stirling for a guided tour of Deanston distillery, the only distillery in Scotland to be self-sufficient in electricity.

Later, enjoy a boat cruise on Loch Katrine, a beautiful freshwater loch in the heart of the park abundant with wildlife. In the afternoon perhaps hike along some of the various forest trails before retiring to Monachyle Mhor Hotel, one of Britain’s top foodie destinations. Overnight 4-star Monachyle Mhor Hotel.  (B)

Day 4 – Guided Hike in Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park

Our guide will meet you at the hotel after breakfast, allowing you to discuss options for your privately guided hike in the National Park. There are lots of great hikes for all abilities and fitness levels, both high and low level. Easy hikes could involve walks along the loch shore, or, for a more challenging hike, choose from one of the park’s 21 Munros (a mountain in Scotland above 3000 feet). After your hike, visit Rob Roy MacGregor’s grave before returning to the hotel. Overnight 4-star Monachyle Mhor Hotel. (B)

Day 5 – Guided Hike in Highland Perthshire

Travel east past Loch Tay to Highland Perthshire home to Britain’s oldest tree, Fortingall Yew, said to be 5,000 years old. Highland Perthshire is known for its wildlife and it’s a great area to spot Ospreys, Golden Eagles, Red Deer and Red Squirrels.

As with many regions of Scotland, there are countless great options for hikes, both low level and high level, so there is something to suit every choice and you can, with your guide’s help, select a suitable route on the day. This may involve exploring the Perthshire glens such as Glen Lyon – the longest enclosed glen in Scotland – or Munros such as Ben Lawers, the highest mountain in southern Scotland and the 10th highest mountain in Britain.  Overnight at 5-star Fonab Castle. (B)

Day 6 – White water rafting or Highland Safari Tour

You have a choice of activities today. If you’re feeling adventurous enjoy a morning of white water rafting on the River Tay. Perfect for beginners, this trip covers the 6 mile stretch from Aberfeldy to Grandtully. Take in the beautiful Scottish scenery and learn the fundamentals of rafting before ending with the famous Grandtully Slalom Rapids to get your heart pumping.

For something more relaxing, a Highland Safari tour is the answer. Sit back and relax as you journey through the forests, mountains and moors of Highland Perthshire. Keep your eyes peeled for the varied wildlife often found in this area from Red deer to Golden Eagles.

You have a free afternoon to enjoy at your leisure. Choose to visit historic Blair Castle and enjoy a way-marked forest walk; or treat yourself to a treatment in the hotel’s spa. Overnight at 5-star Fonab Castle. (B)

      Day 7 – Depart

After a leisurely breakfast, depart. (B)
