Pre-Trip Service
I liked the all-inclusive nature of this trip - hotel, meals and transportation during our stay. The food was excellent, by the way. I also found the instruction and impromptu sharing of photographic technique and insights both very informative and thought-provoking.
Trip Comments
Highlights for me included: Locations like the Old Man of Storr, Loch Clair, Loch Coulin and Torridon. Also, the seafood restaurant in Portree and the cozy hotel. Another highlight was the talk that Colin gave us on the last day about landscape photography and the Lightroom tutorial. I learned a lot and it has inspired me.
Accommodation & Food
The hotel was cozy and comfortable. At first, I thought it a little rundown, but we had everything we needed, the bed was comfy and I appreciated the quiet. Also, really enjoyed the little lounge with the fireplace.
Your Guide
Colin was an excellent guide and a wealth of information about both Scotland and photography. He stayed cool when the traffic was suddenly bad and also when the weather didn't cooperate. I felt both safe and well-taken care of.
The Bottom Line
This was my first photography tour and it met all of my expectations with respect to the landscape, working with locations and instruction. Conditions were challenging, but in a way that made it all the more memorable. When I discovered that one of the participants had been on four previous tours I knew we had chosen well. I enjoyed Colin's perspective on landscape photography and appreciated his down-to-earth unflappable leadership. Lastly, the other participants also made it an easy and fun experience.
