      Self Guided Walking Holidays

Our Self Guided walking holidays allow you to explore the magnificence of Scotland at your own pace.

      On the Trail

On each of our self guided walking holidays, you’ll experience the magnificent scenery of Scotland at your own pace. Self guided walking holidays offer the perfect combination of immersion in the lush Scottish landscape, hiking at your own pace and the freedom to explore anything of interest along the way, without the feeling that you’re holding anyone else up.

On a Wilderness Scotland self guided tour you might be walking on your own but you’ve got the support of 24 hour assistance from the office team, plus the route notes, maps and luggage transfer that we arrange in advance for you.

Journey from inn to inn, or hotel to hotel knowing that a warm welcome awaits you and that your bags will be there waiting for you. Long distance walking trails like the world renowned and iconic West Highland Way and Rob Roy Way are particular favourites for self guided walkers.

You certainly don’t need to be an expert hiker to take on a self guided holiday, however, you do need to be more self-reliant. To book any of these trips, you must be travelling with at least one other person. If you are travelling on your own, we hope that you will be interested in joining one of our small group guided walking holidays.

The little touches and details are important to us and where issues are raised we make positive changes to our trips to improve your experience.

That’s why we read each of our client’s reviews and although we don’t respond to all of them, if it’s glowing feedback then we get the satisfaction of helping to make your holidays truly memorable.

      The Bottom Line

      The Bottom Line

We hiked the West Highland Way in the first half of October. It was an excellent experience even with the rainy days. The scenery was beautiful and ever changing day to day. We met a lot of interesting fellow hikers along the way that only made the experience that much better. We also ran into some Highland Cows, lots of sheep and even some wild goats. It was such a fun trip that I want to go back and hike some other trails in Scotland.

      The Bottom Line

We had a great trip. We did a bit of traveling in Scotland on our own before and after the hiking which was great also. But we really enjoyed seeing the West Highlands up close. Loch Lomond was so beautiful!! It is no wonder that songs have been written about it!

      The Bottom Line

Wilderness Scotland blew my expectations away. With 9 nights accommodation, luggage transfers, and taxi arrangements, I prepared for something to go wrong along the way. However, everything was flawless! The expert planning, help, and tips provided by the company allowed me to fully enjoy my experience hiking the West Highland Way. I have memories that will last me a lifetime and returned home feeling stronger and more capable than when I left. I would absolutely recommend Wilderness Scotland to anyone planning adventure trips in the country - in fact, I already have! Thank you so much for your help in providing me this incredible opportunity. I can't wait to visit Scotland again.

      The Bottom Line

      The Bottom Line

It was an experience of a lifetime. My husband had never done anything like this before and was lamenting before the trip about how he had let himself be talked into such a thing. He enjoyed it immensely, in spite of the weather conditions and being worried about my injury. We learned things about ourselves and saw a country from a very intimate perspective. We consider ourselves very lucky to have been able to walk the WHW together and would recommend Wilderness Scotland without hesitation.
