Selected Trips

Champagne corks are popping at Wilderness Scotland as we’ve just heard that our Scottish Sea Kayak Trail trip has been selected as one of National Geographic Traveler magazine’s 2011 “50 Tours of a Lifetime” and will be featured in the May/June 2011 issue.

Part of the competitive selection process meant that their editorial team worked long and hard to find 2011’s most authentic, most innovative, most immersive, best-guided, and most sustainable tours. Senior editor Norie Quintos, who headed up the project said “The outfitters we selected continue to find new ways travelers can connect with places and people. More and more, it’s about human interaction.

”Part of that human interaction is the guide. This year we also are highlighting 10 great guides who exemplify the new model of guiding. “Where once they were walking encyclopedias, today’s great guides are often a little like life coaches, asking questions to help you get the most out of your trip and pushing you out of your comfort zone,” says Quintos.

National Geographic Traveler magazine has been surfacing the best tours and outfitters for travelers for the last six years, as part of the magazine’s mission “to propel readers out of their armchairs and into the field.”

The Scottish Sea Kayak Trail is one of Wilderness Scotland’s new trips for 2011 and we’ve currently got availability on trips ranging from June through to September.
