Sea kayaking offers such a wealth of opportunity to reach some of Scotland’s most beautiful and remote spots. There’s something inherently moving about spending time on your own private idyll, having paddled there under your own steam. We’ve rounded up some of our favourite photos of those dreamy kayak adventures.

The Sound of Arisaig is a fantastic place for sea kayaking. Dotted with islets, white sandy beaches and seal colonies makes it a great place to explore from the water.

The North West Highlands winding coastline offers a variety of sea lochs and inland lochs to explore. One of our favourites is Loch Maree. This sweeping stretch of water is Scotland’s fourth largest freshwater loch. The loch includes more than forty scattered islands covered in ancient Caledonian pine trees. This is a haven for birdlife such as Black Throated Divers and Sea Eagles.

Floating along in Loch Hourn, Knoydart and West Coast.
Knoydart often called the last great wilderness, is a peninsula on the West coast of Scotland. Sparsely populated, this area feels wild. Loch Hourn cuts deep into the mainland, opposite the Isle of Skye. Steep-sided mountains surround the water, giving a fjord-like feel to the area. Travel by kayak offers a great way to float into those hard to reach places to explore.
There can’t be many better ways to watch wildlife than floating around next to them. Kayaking allows you to gain a new perspective on Scotland’s coastal marine, mammal and bird life. We love hearing about the magical experiences of watching dolphins cruise by, otters catching their dinner and seals playing that takes place on our trips.
