    Mini Bio

I was born in Ireland and moved to the West Highlands when I was five, growing up around Glen Orchy and Dalmally. Currently, I’m based in the small village of Duror, just north of Ballachulish, where my partner and I run a small croft.

I’ve been guiding for around four years, mostly on multi-day walking trips, and a significant portion of that time has been spent on the West Coast, particularly on longer, more remote journeys. That’s taken me on five-day trips to places like Cape Wrath, Kintail and Torridon, as well as deep into the Great Wilderness, some of the most remote ground in Scotland.

I’m upbeat and enjoy a laugh, but I also really value quiet moments in the hills. I care as much about the people, history and folk traditions of the Highlands as I do about the landscape itself, and I love sharing that side of the place with others.

One of my favourite things is sitting at a high point with a cup of tea, map out, translating Gaelic hill names and talking about what they tell us about the land and the people who lived here. When I’m not guiding, I’m usually working on my croft in Cùil Bay or skiing whatever snow patches the west coast still has to offer.

    Favourite Place to Play

Sleeping on top of any mountain on the West Coast. It is wild for so much of the year, and that makes those calm summit sunsets even more special.
