Selected Trips

    Into the Wild

Starting in 2019, we’ve decided to introduce an assortment of exciting, fully-guided women-only departures to create a space to enjoy the great outdoors, whatever your motivations for travelling. Recognised as one of the UK’s Best Workplaces for Women, Wilderness Scotland’s new trips have been devised to be even more inclusive to women who want to adventure in the wilderness.

These holidays for women share all the hallmarks of a Wilderness Scotland trip, such as expert guiding, characterful accommodation, unique experiences and inspirational itineraries. Our women-only trips are designed to encourage more women to explore the wilds of off-the-beaten-path Scotland. Travel with like-minded women and see some of Scotland’s most interesting landscapes in a relaxed and inclusive environment.

Far from excluding people, these women-only trips have been created to include and encourage more women to build adventure confidence and partake in outdoor activities such as cycling, walking and kayaking – activities that have long been male-dominated.

Whether you want to reduce competitiveness, feel confident in trying a new activity, take pride in your own abilities, avoid feeling self-conscious or simply become a part of the wilderness women’s community, these women-only trips will open up the wilderness to more women to travel the wilds of Scotland with the kind of solidarity, ease and atmosphere that you perhaps wouldn’t get in a mixed group.

    Women in the Wild

Women in the Wild is about inspiring women who love the outdoors. This first episode is about our colleague Alice. She swims. In very cold water. Without a wetsuit. She’s not mad but just loves the way it makes her feel. This series is to celebrate our launch of Women Only adventure holidays.

Ghillie Basan is an award-winning cook and author living in a very wild spot in the Cairngorms National Park, Scottish Highlands.  Growing up in Africa and travelling widely in younger years has given Ghillie’s cooking a taste of the exotic, combined with the best in local Scottish ingredients.

Meet Elise, the woman recreating the journeys of history’s forgotten female explorers.

Five years ago, Jenny Graham had never done any competitive cycling. Since 2018, Jenny holds the world record for the fastest woman to cycle around the world unsupported.

    in your own words

This is an amazing trip which reaches places that are not easy to get to by other means. The terrain we crossed, and the trails we used were varied, but always interesting. A great mixture of all the different off-road cycling experiences which the Scottish Highlands have to offer.
