We’ve expanded our wilderness trips to our beautiful sister country England. Known for its rolling green hills, vast moors, stunning lakes and varied coastline, we couldn’t resist designing some epic trips that take in the best of the English countryside.
England is the largest country of the United Kingdom and therefore offers the most varied landscapes. Explore the lands whose beauty inspired countless authors and poets like J.R.R Tolkien, William Shakespeare, Jane Austen, the Brontë sisters, Lewis Carroll, William Wordsworth, Beatrix Potter and Virginia Woolfe.
Northern England is hilly, characterised by high moorlands, limestone and glacial valleys. The area is home to 4 National Parks, containing some of England’s most impressive natural areas. Take in the imposing limestone cliffs that the Yorkshire Dales are famed for, or fall in love with the unspoilt beauty of Northumberland. The North York Moors is a place full of heather and dark skies whereas the Lake District is known for its dramatic fells and expansive lakes.
The Midlands and Southern England house a further 6 National Parks, each individual in its beauty. The landscapes here are gentler; known for lush woodlands, fertile valleys and impressive coasts.
England has a rich cultural heritage and fascinating history which has defined the world that we live in today. Castles and great manor houses pepper the countryside and there are countless fascinating ruins of various ages to explore. Visits relics from the industrial revolution, or trace the footsteps of Roman soldiers.
