    Our Key Projects

    Supporting Conservation and Community

Our Key Projects are essential to our dedication to environmental and social responsibility. These long-term strategic partnerships were chosen based on their alignment with our values and the positive impact we can achieve by working together.

We are always searching for more conservation and community-driven causes to support. We encourage you to contact us if you have a project that aligns with our values and mission. We are eager to expand our network of partners who share our vision.

Currently, we are working with the John Muir Trust to restore Caledonian woodland in their East Schiehallion project. Additionally, we are partnering with Trees for Life to assist in their Glen Affric rewilding project. Lastly, we are championing Equality in Sport to promote women’s involvement in traditionally male-dominated cycling fields.

    The Big 100 Read More

The objective of the Big 100 is simple – The Wilderness Office Team will dedicate 100 days to volunteering each year.

This commitment involves each member of the Wilderness Team contributing two days of voluntary service to take place during work time.

There are no restrictions on the type of volunteering, and recent work has taken the team in some interesting and rewarding directions both close to home and further afield. Past volunteering efforts include:

    • Footpath repair and renewal across Scotland
    • Native reforestation work with the RSPB
    • Mentoring for young adults in Inverness
    • Training and development for tourism businesses
    • Driving for the community car scheme in Aviemore
    • Sector representation in the industry
The Grantown Try Tri Read More

The Grantown Try Tri, an inclusive community sporting event, is one of the grass root initiatives that we’re supporting through the Wilderness Conservation & Community Fund.

Having run swimmingly for 20 years, this sprint triathlon for novices and experts alike looked set to collapse after the Covid-19 Pandemic, but with a new committee in place, the Try Tri is back. Wilderness Scotland is not only financially supporting the Try Tri but also dedicating staff time with on-the-day volunteering.

    Our holidays reviewed
    in your own words

This was our 2nd trip with Wilderness Scotland. We had enjoyed our first trip so much that a second was a must! Not only that but we recruited some of our friends to join us this time. We are definitely looking at another trip, and if we're lucky we'll be back with even more friends! I can't sing the praises of this group enough. Keep up the great work!
