Place to Play – it’s all good….there’s no such thing as bad weather in Scotland, just the wrong jacket.. anywhere where the mountains meet the sea is a special place, everyday, every group, every paddle, and every journey is always different. When not being paid to go out and play I enjoy riding my bike up the biggest hill I can find for free!!

Mini Bio – The outdoors are a powerful and magical place, I spend the majority of my time sharing these amazing places with all sorts of people, in all sorts of places on lots of different adventures.

I have been very fortunate to be involved in trips all over the world, However I do particularly enjoy coming back Home to the beauty of Scotland to explore and search for the finest malt whiskies in the world.

Adventurer's Stories about Craig

Professional dedication to each participant.
Wendy Primmer
Craig and Kielty were excellent and on top of everyone's needs.
Craig is an amazing leader with insights to the history of Scotland's Outer Hebrides and its environment. To begin our trip he did a group bonding exercise with red string symbolizing the Rowan tree for protection. ( Each member of our group carried their piece of red string throughout the trip!) Craig was always checking in with us to make sure our expectations were being met.
Kielty did a fantastic job getting our van and trailer in the standby line so that we were able to make our ferry back to the mainland. I know that there was a lot of behind the scene planning that day and it was truly appreciated.
Jean Barbour
Friendly, fun and encouraging
Wendy Primmer
Craig was of course a well-seasononed and professional guide, but more importantly, his personal character was a crucial asset to the success of the the trip by contributing to the social binding and general atmosphere between us all. Lucy of course was the natural complement, adding her own charm and kindness to the stew, making the trip not only a memorable biking adventure but a very pleasant sociable experience. Wilderness Scotland took care of the "ingredients", but Craig and Lucy made the magic!
Sam Wiedermann
Craig was excellent, detailed knowledge and history of the surroundings was a bonus.
Stephen Crossman
Lucy and Craig were the best guides we could have wished for - very knowledgeable and always keen to give us the best possible experience. And also super helpful - be it organising stamps for sending post cards or getting our bike fixed.
Michaela Spitzer
Craig and Lucy were fantastic - they were both calm and efficient, very friendly and a real pleasure to be around. A truly excellent team!
Shimon Arad
The guides were fantastic! We enjoyed the information and historic background of the areas we biked through and of Scotland as a whole they provided. They treated us all with respect and handled the small issues that came up effeciently. They provided each of us the biking experiance we wanted.
Carolyn Wedekind
I'll repeat my comments from an earlier panel ... Craig Tweedie and Scott McCabe were absolutely terrific ... they assessed our individual capabilities quickly and made accommodations accordingly ... greatly appreciated. They also modified our itinerary to meet our stated goals. They explained clearly upcoming routes and assisted -- and encouraged -- each of us individually when the hills got rather steep! Craig noticed my front tire going flat and he changed it in record time! Scotland and the bicycling thereof were wonderful, but made all the better by our two outstanding guides!
Ronald Wedekind
Craig and Scott were top notch. A+ guides.
Matthew Marran
The guides were incredible. Super helpful and supportive throughout the trip.
Brian Wedekind
The guides did an excellent job of understanding and accommodating our experience levels and chattiness levels
Emily Mosser
They rocked. Did a great job making the trip enjoyable for people with a wide variation in cycling ability.
David Tweedie
Craig Tweedy was outstanding, fun, very attentive, and creative for selecting activities that we would enjoy. He is the reason we would rank this as one of our best trips ever.
Lucy Livingston
Our guide, Craig Tweedie was fabulous. He was very knowledgeable and really insightful in tailoring our activities (mainly hiking but also 1 day each of kayaking and biking) to our preferences and endurance levels. A real delight.
Phil Livingston
Both Paul & Craig were excellent
Martin Wilson
They are good at what they do and they love what they do... I am jealous
Mary Ellen Coulter
The best tour guides I've ever met!
Craig was a wealth of information and Lucy was the most delightful
person I've ever met.
Mary Ellen Coulter
Craig and Lucy were wonderful. Engaging, helpful, informative, talented and knowledgeable. They really made the trip the fantastic experience it was.
Dave Brumbaugh
A+++. Craig and Lucy were outstanding. This was our first guided bike trip as all of our other trips were self supported. We could not have had a better combination of guides. Unfortunately you have spoiled us from any other guided bike trips we may take.
Sam Marcum
As before excellent guides
Ian Strawford
The two guides, Craig and Paul, were beyond excellent. I honestly couldn't fault them. They were extremely knowledgeable, positive and good fun to be around. They organised a fantastic trip, which was varied and within our capability. I can't thank them enough for making the trip so memorable.
Natalie Tandy
Craig and Paul were both excellent in all aspects . I learnt more about the technical side of paddling , safety and self rescue that I though I would have achieved.
I also learnt a good bit about Scottish history , wildlife etc .
All round two excellent hosts...….now if they could only take care of the midgies :0)
David Waughman
Paul and Craig were fantastic. They took the time to find out about the group expectations and the things we wanted to get out of the trip. They worked very well together and provided a great balance between teaching us skills, encouraging us to be independent and make our own decisions, and giving us information about our surroundings. I learned a lot, and felt inspired! They were great ambassadors for Wilderness Scotland.
Julie Black
Craig and Paul were better-than-excellent guides: always there when needed, never intrusive, skilled, informative, supportive, empowering.
Sue Thomason
Absolutely first-class; couldn't be better. Craig and Paul looked after their "ducklings", inspired confidence in the nervous ones, helped to bring on everyone's skills, and knew lots about sea life, geology, folklore....They both made a huge contribution to an excellent trip.
Rory Newman
Craig and paul were amazing guides always teaching us the things about the area we were in and the skills we were developing so big thumb up for craig and paul.
William Hewitt
The guides were great. Both Craig and Mike were kind, considerate, knowledgeable and highly competent. They were just incredibly nice guys who made us feel at ease right from the start. It was a very small trip - just the two of us and a third person from Wilderness Scotland on a 'fam trip' - so the overall feeling was very much like a family, or a bunch of friends out together. The feeling that they were there for backup was very comforting, even if it wasn't needed.
Paul Travers
Both Craig and Mike were attentive, knowledgeable and good company. We didn't have to think of anything it was all taken care of!
Rose Zamoyska
Does Craig ever get angry? The guy's a saint! Organisation, planning and choice of restaurants was outstanding. Thanks Craig. Your guidance and warm enthusiasm has meant I'll return year after year.
Jon Whitehall
Craig was an excellent guide who naturally inspired confidence from the start. Obviously being a guide is not just about showing people the ropes. It requires multiple skills - they're responsible for the participants' safety, comfort, enjoyment of the entire holiday (on and off the water) and for delivering professional instruction. Underlying all this is the need to have excellent people skills. In fact I think being a good guide is much more than just a job - it's a vocation.
Heather O'Hara
Craig was absolutely tremendous. While he had everything organised he always gave us options to all agree the days activities, it made me feel a part of a group. His energy and support really did make the holiday more memorable.
Peter Douglas
Craig is just the best.Always cheery and helpful. Selected the best paddling locations on what was a pretty windy and at times wet 5 days.
He explains things well and takes things in easy stages - gives you time to learn and try things out.
Bill Inness
they we fabulous and excellent at finding activities for a group with different kayaking experience and abilities
Suzanne Belanger
Craig and Lucy are excellent guides for outdoor trips, both well-trained, knowledgeable, attentive, and enjoying the experience themselves and never ever hesitating a moment to go the extra mile to make this trip to a wonderful experience for everybody. Just one example of many: They organized spontaneously a double kayak for two participants to make the paddling more comfortable for them, even so they had to bike nearly two hours to Applecross in the morning (and evening) to make it happen. Lucy is such an inspiring blithe spirit, you feel immediately cheerful in her presence. And her competence makes you feel safe and secure all the time. Craig is very skilled, attentive and interested in peoples perspectives and experiences. He is able to identify the right amount of adventure/challenge for everybody and also radiates a sense of calm to create a relaxed atmosphere.
Petra Grell
Couldn't have been better. Excellent. Friendly, informative, fun and very accommodating ensuring each of us had a great time and weren't pushed beyond our limits. 11/10!
Sue Burbage
Lucy and Craig are first rate guides: skilled , enthusiastic; patient and able to meet the needs of differing levels of skill/fitness. They are great company with the highest level of organisational skills.
Christine Appleyard
Lucy & Craig did an absolutely fantastic job. Every day had an option. They kept the team working together. Their knowledge of the land around us was fantastic.
Ken McLellan
Howard and Craig were fantastic, making us feel safe at all times. The days were well planned considering the bad weather, their knowledge of the area was excellent.
Sociable, professional, friendly and caring.
Ellie Standen
Craig and Howard were super. Very engaging, fun to talk to, and very good with managing our daily trips. They encouraged us to push ourselves without putting us in situations that were beyond our skill level. I would do another trip with either of them or better yet, both of them together again!
Sue Page
Craig and Howard were amazing. They knew exactly how to organise a group of fledgling kayakers, there was never any fuss and nothing was too much trouble. They spent time assessing the weather conditions each day to find suitable paddling spots for us. There was a good mix of teaching skills and just letting us get on with it.
Kathy Gee
Craig & Howard were excellent, they worked well together. They gave great confidence on the water & showed that they were always thinking ahead & modifying there plans dependent on weather, how we were progressing, tide, etc.
Off the water they left nothing to be desired, seemed to read our minds & be one step in front of us at all times, yet without being overbearing, they were just getting on with stuff with no fuss or commotion.
Martin Wilson
Both Howard and Craig were tremendous. We were in safe hands. The weather was not ideal but they absolutely made the most of it. They are both so knowledgable. Both so personable and took care of everyone and everything. I could not recommend and thank them enough.
Jeanette Patrizio
Excellent guide. Very adaptable, friendly & knowllegable on the area & the environment/ wildlife. 5 stars
Clare Ryan
Craig is an excellent guide. We were unlucky with tough weather conditions, but he was always exploring options (A, B, C...) to make the most of our time either on or off the water. He was very good about checking in with each one of us throughout the trip. I felt like I was in excellent hands and I would highly recommend his guiding expertise.
Katharine Brewer
Craig, Helen and Ben were great and looked after all of us really well. Their knowledge, experience, excellent humour and sense of adventure made the whole trip so enjoyable. I now look at oyster catchers in a whole new light!
Barbara Whetnall
Lucy and Craig were fantastic. They were so organized and knowledgeable and really brought the group together. They knew so much about everything - flora, fauna, history, sports, politics... Anything they didn't know, they researched and got back to us on. They were flexible and provided options. Even the small glitches we had were handled in such a way that they became small adventures instead of problems.
Jennifer Reese
The guides were fantastic. They went over and beyond to try and support the group. For instance Lucy ran a session teaching clients to roll after a long day paddling. Both guides had the perfect mix of professionalism and friendliness and made all in the group feel comfortable, supported and accommodated. The guides worked very well together in the team and worked every second of the day it seemed to make the trip a success. They were also both very inspiring individuals and helped to inspire others in the group e.g helping to raise paddling skills, spotting wildlife, learning local history.
Georgina Richards
Both Craig and Lucy were excellent as guides, very knowledgable and patient and fun to spend time with. Both were also annoyingly fit! :0)
Mike Saunders
Competent, capable, cheerful, .. the guides made the trip, Not a bad word to say !
Julian Horton
Craig and Lucy were terrific guides- knowledgable, confident and helpful without being overbearing- more than anything great fun to be with - I would sign up to a trip they were running anytime
