Me in 3 – Irreverent/ down to earth/ grafter.
Places to Play – My backyard wherever that happens to be – mainly Strathspey and the Cairngorms. But if pushed I’d have to add the Western Isles, the North West and anywhere that hills, sea, beaches, music, whisky and driftwood fires combine to create that unique Scottish ‘under the stars’ experience.
Not a lot of people know this – I love old Sergio Leone westerns set to the music of Ennio Morricone.
For someone born in the flatlands of East Anglia, I am forever grateful for the chance that Scotland became my “home” for the past 25 years. Otherwise I think I’d still be looking for it. My life in decades post University? Decade 1, a career in youth justice; Decade 2, outdoor education, guiding and teaching on the hills, crags and seas of Scotland; Decade 3 working in outdoor access and recreation for the Cairngorms National Park Authority and completing an MSc in Sustainable Mountain Development. And Decade 4? From Antarctica to Iceland, guiding and kicking back with interesting people in the wild and wonderful places again. Now you just need to work out how old I am!
Adventurer's Stories about Fran
Fran is the best! Sorry didn't catch our sea kayaking guide's name, but he was also cool.(Cameron)Molly Saunders
Fran A. was so wonderful. She is such a special lady - someone we call a friend now! She was very well-versed about the places she took us hiking, did a wonderful job taking us all over Skye, and even made special accommodations to let us see a bit of Inverness on the final day she took us to meet our train. She was truly lovely, and I will miss her!Brandi Schreiber
