    Mini Bio

I was brought up in the south of England in a sailing family. I have a lifelong passion for nature, but it was when I discovered the Scottish mountains that I found my direction in life.

After spending the late nineties and the noughties absorbed in personal adventures and a passion for rock climbing, I became a hiking guide in 2008. These days, I specialise in hiking, cycling, and open canoeing in Scotland and the UK.

    Favourite Place to Play

The mountains of the Scotland are my summer playground. There are endless possibilities for achievable adventures, with a wonderful natural backdrop just waiting to be discovered.

Not a lot of People Know This

When the clocks go back, I go south like the birds to my winter playground in the French Pyrenees.

What Fellow Travellers Say About Peter

Peter is so knowledgeable. When people complained about their aching feet he gave us tips on tying our boots, the kind of socks we should be wearing, what to do for blisters, etc. Peter kept us engaged and informed each day as we hiked - how far the route was, what terrain to expect, how far we were into the hike each day, he educated us on the flora and fauna, what landmarks we were looking at, the history of the area. Peter took the time to learn about each of us. He really is a special person. A true asset to Wilderness Scotland. I definitely would book another trip where he is the guide.

I cannot imagine a better guide than Peter. He is empathetic, responsive to the needs of the group, and an overall genuine human being. Some of my fondest memories are time spent on the trail talking to Peter.

Pete was a 5 star. He inew the trail & we felt safe.
I got serious toe injury on trail. Pete did great first aid. We both agreed I should take 2 days rest. He set up transport to next destination which was wonderful.

We couldn't have asked for a better guide than Peter. He was knowledgeable, funny, and carried provided individual attention in turns and in small groups throughout the day keeping moral and safety high. Everyone on our group would go out of there way to go on another trip guided by Pete.

Pete was an amazing guide - full of knowledge and very friendly/helpful to everyone in our group. We really enjoyed spending time with him and he did a great job of keeping us motivated and moving but still allowing time for photos and quick stops.

Overall, Peter did a great job. He knew the area of our hikes, could identify wildlife, was a very safe driver, and overall very laid back. One area that could be improved was adjusting the hikes pacing so that we could be back at the inns by 4:00 so that we had some downtime before dinner. Perhaps starting the day before 9:00 would help.

Pete Myers was an amazing Guide! Arrived in good time to meet us on arrival in Lerwick and then took us for a coffee at a local cafe so the group could introduce themselves. A very engaging, knowledgeable, friendly and highly experienced professional. I suffer from vertigo and he was very empathetic along our cliff walks - his kind encouragement enabled me to complete our hikes which I probably wouldn’t have done on my own. Pete had a great sense of humour too. That and his excellent taste in music made Pete an A* Guide!
