    Mini Bio

I am an enthusiastic climber/ mountaineer and cyclist. The Cairngorms have been my home for the last 8 years. Before this, I was in North Wales and the South West of England, and visiting Scotland every Winter for 3 or 4 months. Working part-time and having a portfolio career gives me time for adventures around the Cairngorms and around Scotland.

    Place to Play

Torridon. The combination of the sea and mountains in a stunning setting. Great for adventures year-round be it hiking, scrambling, climbing or biking.

Not a lot of people know this

When sailing a Laser dinghy a long time ago I once beat a soon to be multiple Olympian in an informal race, I think I got lucky with the changeable wind.

    Adventurer's Stories about Andy

Some of the trails and paths seem to have been not well thought out. They were tedious and trying.

Andy did an excellent job taking care of us. His job is challenging when the hiking ability of the group varies but he handled it well. Some of us had to push ourselves rather hard, (we expected this would be the case) to keep up but we were blessed with terrific weather and it was all worth it.

Andy did a great job managing some slightly varying agendas: tactful, efficient -- a gifted cat-herder!

Our guide, Andy, was a good driver, friendly, knowledgeable about the sites and patient. He led the walks well and was mindful of the ages of some of us, making sure we could cope with the terrain and not walking too fast.

Andy was a genial and relaxed guide. He has a difficult job in having to please all the people all the time and was able to do it with a smile on his face!

Arrin and Andy were excellent guides. They were both very encouraging on some of the steeper climbs on the Wee Mad Road and elsewhere. On the one 25% grade that my husband and I just could not deal with at the end of the Wee Mad Road, Andy called ahead and Arrin gave us a ride up that part of the road.

Our tour was self-guided, but honestly it felt like fully guided with Andy’s care. I didn’t realize he would be with us the entire trip and guide us every step of the way. He was organized, kind, friendly, and knowledgeable about the area. The GPS units were great too.

Sometimes it's nice to get family and friends together and travel privately for some quality time. This means you benefit from all the features of the group departure, including hand-picked accommodation and expert local guides and we'll take care of it all. Then you can make your choice of departures dates and we'll get back to you to finalise the details.

We work together with our team of guides to decide which departures they lead each year. As part of that, guides provide available dates that they are free to be booked. This means that any of the dates you see in the first field of the form below, could be perfect for your private departure or customised tour.
