    Mini Bio

With over 30 years of experience in the traditional arts and cultural heritage, I am passionate about sharing Scotland’s rich history and vibrant traditions with visitors from around the globe. As a tour guide, I specialise in bespoke experiences that blend storytelling, music, and local insights.

My tours offer a unique glimpse into Scottish and Highland life, from exploring ancient archaeological sites to engaging with the living culture of Gaelic and local communities. I believe in creating memorable connections, whether through a lively cèilidh (social gathering), a shared whisky tasting, or a deep discussion about our shared heritage.

In addition to guiding, I am an internationally recognised musician, which allows me to incorporate the sounds and stories of Scotland into every tour. My aim is to provide an authentic and enriching experience that resonates with each guest, leaving them with a deeper appreciation of Scotland’s beauty and culture.

When I’m not guiding tours, I focus on the development and promotion of traditional music and song in Scotland. I enjoy hill-walking, paddleboarding, reading, and travelling, which enrich my understanding of the landscapes and cultures I share with visitors. I speak Scottish Gaelic, Irish Gaelic and have a smattering of French and Norwegian.

    Favourite Place to Play

    • Loch Ness—There are so many great stories surrounding the loch, including Urquhart Castle, Fort Augustus, and the monster herself!
    • Isle of Skye – There are so many stories and beautiful places to visit on this iconic island, including Sleat (the garden of Skye), Dunvegan Castle, and, of course, the Old Man of Stoer.
    • Outer Hebrides – As a Gaelic speaker, I always love to visit the heartland of Scottish Gaelic speakers and the wealth of cultural experiences you get while there.
    • Edinburgh – Our beautiful, ancient capital city is hard to beat for its history, architecture, festivals, and cultural offerings. I love wandering around the old town.

Not a lot of People Know This

In my 20s, I toured globally with my Celtic music band “Anam”, from launching albums in Tokyo to playing at big festivals, theatres and on TV and radio.
