    Mini Bio

I grew up with a passion for the environment and travel. After working in the marine environment sector for many years, I have also begun to focus on the mountains, particularly long distance remote hiking trails.

Whilst I still love to explore abroad, nothing can beat a rugged day in the Scottish wilderness or a summer’s afternoon in the English countryside, where you can mix history, nature, culture and the beautiful outdoors all into one trip!

    Favourite Place to Play

The Isle of Islay in the Inner Hebrides. If you can pull yourself away from the whisky, there is a beautiful golden sand beach called Machir Bay, where, when the conditions are right, you can surf all day in crystal clear water with nobody else but the locals.

Not a lot of People Know This

For many years, growing up, it was my dream to learn to sail, buy a sailing boat and sail around the world. I’ve been a little distracted with other things, but still often think about one day dropping everything, buying a boat and disappearing into the sunset.

    • In 2023, I hiked the 2650-mile Pacific Crest Trail, from Canada to Mexico, wild camping and hiking through many vast wilderness areas.
    • In 2024, I planned my own multi-day hiking expeditions in South America, including hikes in Patagonia, Bolivia and Peru.
    • Typically, I like to choose an area and try to create my own unique route, wherever that is possible.
    Biggest Adventure Read More

It has to be the Pacific Crest Trail. Almost 5 months hiking 20+ miles every day with all your provisions on your back.

    Specialist Subject Read More

I love Nature, and I am always learning more, whether it’s about flora, fauna, or the wider environment I’m in. Hiking and living in remote areas are also among my interests.

    Make Trip Private

Sometimes it's nice to get family and friends together and travel privately for some quality time. This means you benefit from all the features of the group departure, including hand-picked accommodation and expert local guides and we'll take care of it all. Then you can make your choice of departures dates and we'll get back to you to finalise the details.

We work together with our team of guides to decide which departures they lead each year. As part of that, guides provide available dates that they are free to be booked. This means that any of the dates you see in the first field of the form below, could be perfect for your private departure or customised tour.
