    Mini Bio

Growing up in Aberdeenshire, my childhood was filled with small adventures to local castles, the Cairngorms and the Moray coast. These days, you will find me setting out on adventures from my home in Inverness, which I moved to from Aberdeen after spending the last 26 years or so on the north-east coast of Scotland. Whilst most people might consider this the far north, with my family coming from Caithness and Shetland, I am considered a southerner by many of them. I think it is because of my childhood that, while I love exploring all the different areas of Scotland, I am most drawn to the remote and rugged mountains and coastlines that are so familiar to me from my time in the north.

I love showing off Scotland at its wildest, and this has led me to guide in a great variety of environments and locations, such as the winter swells of the North Sea, the inspiring mountains of the Scottish Highlands, and the rugged shorelines of the north-west coast.

I am happiest in the outdoors when all the different layers of an experience come together, appreciating its uniqueness in terms of its history, people, and nature.

    Favourite Place to Play

The Moray coast. Whether it’s surfing, rock climbing, wild swimming or cycling, this corner of Scotland means so much to me. The micro-climate is a bonus!

Not a lot of People Know This

I studied Textiles after leaving school. I spent my days creating prints, designing and sewing clothes and sketching. While I can still be found behind a sewing machine or crochet hook, I have found that I now prefer watercolours and use them to record my adventures.

I have been an outdoor instructor since 2021, working with groups of all kinds, including charity mountaineering clubs in the Highlands, history and paddleboarding tours on the northeast coast, guided hill days in the Cairngorms, and week-long camping expeditions to Cape Wrath. Thanks to my dad I have been a student of all things Scottish history from birth and I have been teaching myself Gaelic for the last 3 years.

    Biggest Adventure Read More

Being in Oban with my friends and our surfboards, watching as the ferries to Tiree were cancelled due to hurricane winds. Despite this, my friends and I reorganised the whole surf trip on the fly, and had some unforgettable days chasing the wild west coast swell down the Mull of Kintyre, then ending up on Islay and literally riding out the storm. There was even a song written about the trip!
