    Mini Bio

I am what my friends call me ‘a climbing lifer’ as there is nothing better than being in the mountains high on a crag face or mountain top with friends and new acquaintances. I have just finished ten years of teaching adventure leadership in higher education and now it’s time for me to spend more time helping others to enjoy the great British outdoors. I have been a very active mountaineer, caver and rock climber for over 40 years and have loved teaching and helping others to feel safe and challenged in the outdoor environment, over the last 20 years.

It is a total pleasure and a great privilege to host and guide visitors to Scotland each year. My job is to help them connect with all the wonders we have here so that they may return home as ambassadors for this wonderful country I am lucky enough to call my home.

    Place to Play

Anywhere, where there are mountains or mountains in the background. They can range rom the sea and sea cliffs of Cornwall to the Munro’s of Scotland.

Not a lot of people know this

I have completed two Ironman triathlons, one being the Norseman Extreme Triathlon, reputedly the hardest Ironman/triathlon in the world.

    Qualifications Read More

I have my Summer Mountain leader and have completed the Winter Mountain leaders and Rock climbing instructors qualification. I am also working towards the Mountaineering and Climbing instructor and the Winter Mountain leaders qualifications and hope to have these by the end of 2022. I also have a master degree in coaching and many coaching qualifications for a variety of sports and activities. I am also a qualified Strength and Conditioning coach.

    Experience Read More

I have been guiding and instructing for the last 10 years as well as teaching and assessing the future outdoors adventure leaders. I have a lot of experience in climbing and teaching in the Lake District of England as well as many years of experience in the mountains and sea cliffs of the UK.
I have climbed all over the world from Norway to North America and have a long experience of climbing and skiing in the European Alps with many trips and experiences. I have some experience of paddling both in the sea and waters of the UK.

    Biggest Adventure Read More

There are so many, but a snapshot would be Trekking the Annapurna Circuit in Nepal in my early 20s. Climbing El Capitan in Yosemite Nation Park, the Troll in Norway wall and Bonatti pillar on Mont Blanc. In 2019 I went to the Alps and completed five 4000m peaks via ED routes culminating in a valley to the summit of Mont Blanc via the Innominate Ridge.

    Specialist Subject Read More

I love nothing more than to talk about health and fitness; mainly how to keep active and challenging yourself into old age. I love to talk about how we lived in the political past and how we need to recognise the impact modern living is having on us. Also my reach area of why we also seem to enjoy adventure and the challenges of adventure sports

    Make Trip Private

Sometimes it's nice to get family and friends together and travel privately for some quality time. This means you benefit from all the features of the group departure, including hand-picked accommodation and expert local guides and we'll take care of it all. Then you can make your choice of departures dates and we'll get back to you to finalise the details.

We work together with our team of guides to decide which departures they lead each year. As part of that, guides provide available dates that they are free to be booked. This means that any of the dates you see in the first field of the form below, could be perfect for your private departure or customised tour.
