      Created by: Rachael Gavan

Join us on a fully guided walking trip that traverses the stunning region of Perthshire, Loch Lomond, and the Trossachs National Park.

Accompanied by a knowledgeable guide, explore long lochs, old forests and soaring heather-cloaked mountains. Hike through Glen Tilt, a stunning valley that snakes its way into the southern bounds of the Cairngorms National Park, and bag a Munro in the shape of Schiehallion, a boulder-strewn mountain that offers commanding views across Rannoch Moor to the precipitous tors of Glencoe. Further south, venture into the heart of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. Chat with your guide about folklore and faultlines as you hike a spectacular section of the West Highland Way and up Ben A’an’s pyramidal peak. After days spent in the company of willow warblers and highland cattle, blooming bell heather and old oak trees, return to handpicked accommodation to enjoy hearty seasonal food.

With every aspect of your walking holiday thoughtfully taken care of, join us for a week of wonderful walking and breathtaking views in the beautiful Scottish wilderness.

Day 1 – Into Highland Perthshire Read Less

      Day 1

      Into Highland Perthshire

Meet your Wilderness guide at Pitlochry Train Station this morning and transfer a short distance to Killicrankie Visitor Centre. From here, we enjoy a mellow walk that winds along the banks of the tumbling River Garry, crosses an Edwardian Salmon ladder and offers a fantastic view of the rocky rapids at Linn of Tummel. Look out for red squirrels, swallows and buzzards, and learn more about the region’s history from your knowledgeable guide. After the walk, a short drive will take us to a traditional county inn with wooden floors and soft cotton sheets, which will be our base for the next three nights.

      Meals Included: Lunch and Dinner
      Walk Details: 9 km / 5 miles | 270 m / 886 ft | Approx: 3.5 hrs

Day 2 – Hike Glen Tilt Read Less

      Day 2

      Hike Glen Tilt

After breakfast, head out for a classical circular walk that explores both sides of Glen Tilt, one of Scotland’s most beautiful glens in the southern throws of the Cairngorms National Park. From the Old Bridge of Tilt, we make our way along the valley, following good, grassy tracks in most places and slightly rougher, narrower paths in others. As we walk, take in lovely views of the heathery hillsides, cross old stone bridges, and pass by picturesque stone cottages covered in glossy ivy. This evening, relax back at the hotel and enjoy a delicious dinner.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
      Walk Details: 15 km / 9 miles | 326 m / 1,070 ft | Approx: 6 hrs

Day 3 – Schiehallion - The Fairy Hill Read Less

      Day 3

      Schiehallion - The Fairy Hill

Today, join the guide for a hike up Schiehallion. The name of this Munro comes from the Gaelic Sìth Chailleann, meaning ‘fairy hill of the Caledonians’, and is home to important species such as ptarmigan, mountain hare, and the rare mountain willow. The walk begins on a well-trodden path through an area planted with young oak trees that will eventually regenerate into native woodland. Upon reaching a broad ridge, the terrain becomes increasingly rocky, with quartzite boulders and numerous cairns to navigate. At the summit, soak up the sweeping views across Rannoch Moor to Glencoe. The return follows the same route, with a cool drink awaiting at the hotel this evening.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
      Walk Details: 10 km / 6 miles | 730 m / 2,395 ft | Approx: 7 hrs

Day 4 – A Mountain in Miniature Read Less

      Day 4

      A Mountain in Miniature

After breakfast and checking out of the hotel this morning, travel south along the banks of Loch Tay into the heart of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. With boots laced and rucksacks packed, we will set out to hike up Ben A’an. Often called the ‘mountain in miniature’, Ben A’an’s pyramidal peak offers panoramic views of the surrounding Trossachs. From the summit, almost the full length of Loch Katrine is visible, along with the prominent mountains of Ben Venue ahead and Ben Lomond to the west. After returning, transfer to the second hotel of the trip and relax after a fantastic day in the Scottish hills.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
      Walk Details: 4 km / 2 miles | 340 m / 1,115 ft | Approx: 4 hrs

Day 5 – Walk the West Highland Way Read Less

      Day 5

      Walk the West Highland Way

We head out today to walk a stunning section of the West Highland Way, a long distance hiking trail that stretches 154 km from the outskirts of Glasgow to Fort William in the Highlands. After catching a small boat across Loch Lomond, the group will set off to walk an engaging section of the trail, which winds up and down over stones and tree roots through ancient oak woodland. The route passes by the infamous outlaw Rob Roy’s cave, a small sandy beach, and Doune Bothy – a Mountain Bothy Association shelter in an old byre. At the end of the trail, enjoy a drink at a nearby inn before returning to the hotel to relax.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
      Walk Details: 11 km / 7 miles | 390 m / 1,280 ft | Approx: 5 hrs

Day 6 – Glen Striddle Horseshoe Read Less

      Day 6

      Glen Striddle Horseshoe

Begin the day with a scenic walk, guided through the hills above Glen Striddle, offering beautiful views across Loch Lomond and the Arrochar Alps. Starting in the picturesque conservation village of Luss, where occupation dates back to medieval times, we will follow a grassy path that gradually ascends through trees to a bracken-clad ridge. After a brief levelling off, the ridge continues to climb, with the views becoming increasingly dramatic. Your guide will point out the distinctive peaks of the Cobbler and Beinn Ìme, and the vast mirror of Loch Lomond stretching out far below. This satisfying circular walk ends back in Luss before a short drive returns us to the hotel for dinner.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
      Walk Details: 12 km / 7 miles | 725 m / 2,379 ft | Approx: 6 hrs

      Conic Hill and Depart

This morning, enjoy walking up the sharp little peak of Conic Hill, which lies on the Highland Boundary Fault. Marked by the thistle symbols of the West Highland Way, follow a well-made path that swings between two hills and provides beautiful views of the small wooded islands strung out across Loch Lomond. As we walk, keep an eye out for highland cows and an ear out for buzzards. After our hike, we’ll enjoy lunch in the pretty village of Balmaha. Afterwards, your guide can drop you at Balloch Train Station at 2:00pm or Pitlochry Train Station at 4:30pm, where the trip will conclude.
