    Mini Bio

I live in Inverness with my young family and I am a Gaelic speaker.
When not guiding you may spot me hiking or biking up a Scottish mountain or going on a family walk in the beautiful Highlands and Islands.

I have over 25 years experience of hiking, climbing and biking the mountains of Scotland and beyond. I have completed all 282 of Scotland’s Munro mountains as well as scaling Mont Blanc and the Dent du Geant in the Alps.

    Favourite Place to Play

I’m probably at my happiest on the coastal mountains of the West Highlands and Islands.

Not a lot of People Know This

I’m a volunteer director of a Gaelic language charity in Inverness.

I hatched a plan in lockdown to scale all of Scotland’s island Corbett hills (over 2500 feet) in a one-er. I did it self supported – on foot up the hills then cycling to the next hill and camping at night. It involved 11 Corbetts, 10 islands and 13 ferries. It took me 2 weeks in 2021, and was an amazing experience. The isle of Harris was probably the highlight, as well as all the great people I met.

Alan was fabulous. He did everything to try and make the most of our itinerary despite the weather and definitely made our stay more enjoyable. He really one out of his way to show us a good time. The kids were much better behaved with him.

Our guide, Allen, had a diverse group. He had the difficult job of meeting each of our expectations. Felt that the group ability level was very wide and some of the participates made it hard to get general agreement on "plans" for the day. It was no fault of the guide but the team.
