      On each of our self guided walking holidays, you’ll experience the magnificent scenery of Scotland at your own pace. 

      Self guided walking holidays offer the perfect combination of immersion in the lush Scottish landscape, hiking at your own pace and the freedom to explore anything of interest along the way, without the feeling that you’re holding anyone else up.

      On a Wilderness Scotland self guided tour your group might be walking on your own, but you’ve got the support of 24-hour assistance from the office team, assisted by the detailed route notes, maps and luggage transfer that we arrange in advance for you.

      Journey from inn to inn or hotel to hotel, knowing that a warm welcome awaits you at your next overnight stop, with your bags delivered to your room. Long distance walking trails like the world-renowned and iconic West Highland Way and Rob Roy Way are particular favourites for self guided walkers. Our tried-and-trusted itineraries offer a combination of flexibility, assistance, and the freedom to travel at your own pace.

      With fixed departures available on our popular self guided tour of the West Highland Way, simply choose the dates that suit your group the best. Booking a fixed departure on a self guided tour still means you’ll be travelling with your own group, and would only ever share rooms with other members of your party.

      You certainly don’t need to be an expert hiker to take on a self guided holiday. However, you do need to be more self-reliant. To book any of these trips, you must be travelling with at least one other person. If you are travelling on your own, we hope that you will be interested in joining one of our small group guided walking holidays.

              I loved this trip! I never would have thought to do something like this but the social media algorithm caught me one day and I am so glad. There needs to be more of the day-hiking with luggage transport for those of us who do not want (or can't) thru hike and camp.
