      This fully guided seven day trip explores Scotland’s ancient history, beautiful landscapes and welcoming culture, from the cobbled streets and winding closes of Edinburgh to the heathery hills and royal connections of the Highlands.

      Visit remarkable places such as Rosslyn Chapel, the V&A Dundee and Balmoral Castle. Take a guided tour of the Old Course in St Andrews, explore the former royal retreat of Falkland Palace, and uncover the traditions of the Highland Games in Braemar.       Depart Edinburgh this morning and head north to visit Falkland Palace, once a favoured retreat of the Stuart monarchs and used as a filming location in Outlander. Explore its restored rooms and discover its royal connections. After lunch, continue to the East Neuk of Fife, a string of charming fishing villages along the coast. Wander through the historic harbour at Pittenweem, admire the 14th-century church at St Monans, and stroll the cobbled streets of Crail – home to a picturesque harbour, local pottery, and colourful cottages. Depending on the time, there may also be the chance to visit the wide sandy beach and lighthouse at Elie. Later this afternoon, transfer to St Andrews and settle into your lovely hotel.

      This morning, join a guided tour of the Old Course – one of the most iconic golf courses in the world. Afterwards, discover more of St Andrews at your own pace, perhaps visiting the atmospheric ruins of the cathedral or strolling through the peaceful Botanic Gardens, before stopping for lunch in town. This afternoon, transfer to the Hill of Tarvit, a beautifully preserved Edwardian mansion in the Fife countryside. Here, step back in time to play hickory golf, using traditional clubs and balls on a heritage course. Afterwards, return to St Andrews and enjoy dinner.

      Today, enjoy a stunning journey as you steadily return to Edinburgh. Along the way, stop in Braemar and visit the Highland Games Pavilion, which tells the story of the Braemar Gathering. Take a moment to appreciate Braemar, a pretty village known for its beautiful location and strong Highland character. Travelling via Glenshee, follow a narrow road through the heart of the southern Cairngorms before arriving at Scone Palace, once the crowning place of Scottish kings. Its rich royal history and impressive setting make it a fitting final stop on your adventure through Scotland. Later this afternoon, your guide will bid you farewell at Edinburgh Gateway Station, where the trip will conclude.

      This Culture & Heritage holiday is based in three welcoming and deluxe accommodations.

      For the first two nights, we stay in a stylish, boutique hotel offering classic charm and access to central Edinburgh. For the next two nights, we stay in an inviting luxury hotel on the edge of St Andrews. For the final two nights, we stay in a refined but relaxed Highland hotel, right in the heart of the village of Ballater.

      Single Rooms

      There is no supplement charged to solo travellers, however, you will be required to share a room with another person of the same sex. If you request a double room for single occupancy, a supplement of £910 is charged.

      Due to the nature of the accommodations we use, single supplements are limited and are allocated on a first come first served basis.

      This trip includes all meals, from lunch on Day 1 to lunch on Day 7. Dinners are two courses as standard.

      Great food is paramount on all Wilderness Scotland trips, and we will enjoy excellent regional cooking throughout this all-inclusive trip. Of course, dietary requirements can be catered for; just let us know when booking.

      Your Wilderness Scotland Guide will meet you at Edinburgh Gateway Railway Station at 12.30pm on Day 1 of your trip.

      The trip will finish at Edinburgh Gateway Railway Station at 4.30pm on the final day.

      Edinburgh Gateway Station has both rail and tram links from central Edinburgh:

      By rail: It is a 10-minute train journey from Edinburgh Waverley or Edinburgh Haymarket with no changes.

      By tram: It is a 30-minute journey on the tram route heading west from the city centre towards the airport.

      By taxi: It will take approximately 30 minutes from the city centre.
