Just fantastic from start to finish with Miles and Andy making it not only great fun, but also creating a safe and inspiring environment in which to learn all about the islands and their wildlife and culture, but also to feel confident to kayak in such varied and enjoyable conditions.
Highlights included the circumnavigation of Scarp and the night kayaking, but so many happy memories of not only the kayaking but of our little Hobbit village !
Accommodation & Food
Bit of a shock on the first night to realise we were in a 'dorm' with bunk beds, but once I had mastered the art of climbing onto the top bunk and not falling out over night, all was well!
Food good, though too plentiful! Pity about the Chilli in things, but my fault for not letting you know in better time of my dietary limitations!
Loved the final night in Stornaway: not only a comfy bed but fabulous local seafood superbly cooked: what a high to end on, plus Miles's slide show!
Miles was just inspirational: his love of, and knowledge about the Gaellic culture and ecology shone throughout, and made every day just a delight on top of the fabulous scenery and wildlife we were experiencing.
Andy was amazing with his quiet but steady support and guiding of all of us: still working on nailing my inner meerkat when kayaking, but all feedback highly constructive. Felt totally safe with the two of them fore and aft of our little group wherever we went, Thank you both and looking forward to the future Shetlands!
