Bridget answered all emails quickly. We had lots of questions and her responses were very clear and friendly in nature. This was important to us because we just found WS on the web and weren’t sure about going wi an unknown company.
We’ve been on many guided group trips. This was the best mix of people ever. After just a few hours we began to meld - sharing outdoor experiences, laughs, watching out for one another and learning from one another. Our guide commented that we were always on time and I think we were just thoughtful of one another. There was always someone with an outstretched hand for whatever reason.
Accommodation & Food
Nothing fancy but perfectly adequate . They were clean, all had private bathrooms, and hearty breakfasts and helpful managers.
John Hamilton was wonderful. Fun, calm, very sensitive to individual skills and personalities. Always willing to help. Very knowledgeable about Scottish culture and history. A good problem solver, esp in my case where I needed some medical help. A wonderful part of our group while still being able to step aside and make important decisions. This group gelled amazingly well - looked out for one another both on the trails and in our hotels with luggage, etc. This is partly due to John’s ability to make us all one team.
The Bottom Line
Experience was wonderful but might be worth considering one day break in the middle to try something different - kayaking, exploring a town, a sheep farm, something pastoral. A chance to have a break in long walks and experience a different part of Scotland - like the lakes.
