    Mini Bio

Growing up in Cornwall I spent a lot of time on Dartmoor where I first learnt to navigate and camp. The Dartmoor granite taught me to climb and slowly I ebbed my way into life as a full-time instructor. I worked as a climbing coach and walking guide until I was called to Scotland in search of winter climbing, and 4 years later I’m still here. A climbing accident brought me a love of all things paddlesports and my passion now lies in white water paddleboarding. The thing I love most about being a guide is the people I get to meet and share the outdoors with.

    Favourite Place to Play

Glen Roy near Roy Bridge is my favourite place to be. The parallel lines on the hillside are incredible and the river Roy is my favourite river to paddle.

I’ve been fortunate to work with a lot of young people and teenagers in the outdoors, whether that’s on Duke of Edinburgh expeditions or group trips abroad to places like Iceland or Corsica. Coaching other aspirant instructors in walking and paddling has also been part of my career and helping others to achieve their qualifications is hugely rewarding. Having also worked at a variety of climbing walls and outdoor centres I have met lots of different people and learnt something small from every one of them along the way.

A winter walk on Garbh Bheinn in Ardgour quickly led to a snowy scramble and then a snowy epic. And then to a long cold retreat from Garbh Bheinn. Lesson learnt.
