    Mini Bio

I have been an outdoor enthusiast for 35 years, starting out rock climbing and mountaineering. I discovered mountain biking 30 years ago and have been on one ever since. I do venture onto road for training and have entered a few triathlons including the Big Ben Tri. I am passionate about leaving no trace and respecting the places I visit and travel through for future generations to enjoy.

I moved to Aviemore 2 years ago from the central belt of Scotland and often wonder why I didn’t do it years ago. The opportunities for doorstep adventures and micro adventure are endless.

What Fellow Travellers Say About Neil

Both Neil and Malcolm were cheerful, patient and resourceful My mountain bike skills aren’t great and I was definitely the weakest in the group but they never let that be an issue for them or anyone else. They had vast amounts of local knowledge as well as information about wildlife and the history of the islands. Couldn’t fault them.

Both Neil and Malcolm were had a wealth of local knowledge which they shared with us along the way. They were also very supportive of everyone in the group regardless of their skill level.
The made me feel safe and secure when the terrain was rough and remote.

Neil and Malcom did a great job adjusting the itinerary to the challenges they were presented. Both were very knowledgable about the environment, nature, Mountain Biking and a variety of other things. It was a joy to talk and hang out with them.

Here is where Neil and Malcom both show true experience and their honed skills. These were displayed in both the hard skills of riding and demonstrating mountain biking technique but more importantly the soft skills of leading and managing the group safety and efficiency in a fun and engaging way. Both leaders were great at these.

Neil & Scotty were both fabulous & kept their cool in the face of adversity. Neil carried 2 bikes while Scotty managed an E-bike on the Postman route when person with the E-bike was not able to manage it.
They were always ready with a smile, options for the day and of course Scottish music in the van.

Neil Wilson our guide with the factor that made a good holiday in to a great one. He was a relaxed knowledgeable and interesting source of information. Nothing thing was too much trouble .He came up with ideas and was receptive to our thoughts ; he knew when to advise and when to run with our schemes . Knowing that he was never far away when we were out and about was very reassuring and the little considerations in having snacks and drinks and on one occasion a top notch picnic ready was lovely .

Our driver was brilliant and the routes maps were very adequate. We didn't keep to them strictly as we were "self guided" but found them very helpful.
