    Place to Play

Being based in Aviemore, it has to be the Rothiemurchus and Glenmore area. Getting out on either my road bike or mountain bike for a blast around the roads and trails couldn’t be easier. I also love exploring the Islands and enjoying a dram or two along the way.

Not a lot of people know this

There are only two of us in the team who can be classed as real locals – born in Inverness, I am one of the two!

I joined Wilderness Scotland in October 2010 and am responsible for the development of our Biking Programs, incorporating both Road and Mountain Bikes. Working as part of the Ops Team, my focus is on ensuring our trips run smoothly and have all the right kit. A major part of my role is devising and reviewing trips, I love to get creative and try to find inspiring new destinations to ride in.  If you’ve got some ideas, then I’m all ears.

Every now and again I am lucky enough to escape the office and guide a few trips every year. It is always a highlight of my year, being able to share my passion and enthusiasm for our great country.

Out of work if you will find me competing in off-road duathlons, road cycling sportives and trying not to fall off the bike at Ten Under the Ben! If I’m not on the bike then you will find me trudging up and down rugby pitches across Scotland, playing for Highland Rugby Club.

2015 is an exciting year for me as I got married at the end of June!

    Adventurer's Stories about Craig

Could not have been more helpful and informative. Their flexibility on one of the worst weather days was welcomed by everyone. What’s more they were great fun and this contributed to the great camaraderie on the tour.

Craig and Finlay were top notch! I’d pick them again if I had the opportunity.

Craig and Finlay were a great team and the perfect guides for us. We had a range of ages and abilities in our group, and they made seamless adjustments for us along the way. They were always looking out for us behind the scenes, and it was easy to call them “dads.!” They had a great sense of humor and adventure and their love of sharing the experience of Scotland’s beauty was evident every step of the way. Top notch folk working for a top notch outfitter. What more could you ask for?

Craig and Finlay were the best! We had a lovely time with them! Craig was great at giving us recommendations for things to do and see in Scotland and at adapting the rides with extra mileage for us. Finlay was great at making all the adjustments necessary for the bikes every day so I felt comfortable riding my bike.

Excellent is not description enough. Beside the natural beauty and history of Scotland, and the challenging climbs and amazing descents, our tour will be most memorable because of Craig and John. We can't say enough. Good job, guys!!
