    Mini Bio

Although hailing from the Central Belt my passion and love for Scottish History was destined to draw me to my ancestral homelands. This passion led to a deep love for the Scottish mountains and Glens, and so I embarked on a career working in this stunning environment.

I love hillwalking, mountaineering and biking all over Scotland, all year round. My passion for exploring the history of these areas is infectious and I love sharing these experiences with other people!

My idea of heaven is a cracking long day on foot or on bike exploring Scotland’s stunning scenery and history, followed by a good hearty dinner and some mirth and laughter by a roaring fire with a wee dram in the evening!

    Favourite Place to Play

A tough question to answer – but probably Ardnamurchan. It is wild feeling and very peaceful, offering stunning peaks, a glorious coastline and untrampled miles of heather-clad goodness! And of course, being a McDonald means I am close to where it all began…

Not a lot of People Know This

I am hugely interested in paranormal activity – I was even a member of the Ghost Club (started by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle himself) for a few years before moving to Fort William to be closer to the mountains. I started out as a sceptic but several experiences may have changed my mind!

What Fellow Travellers Say About Craig

Craig was the best guide I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with! In well over a decade of guided trips I have never worked with someone as passionate, competent, and professional! His wealth of stories and local knowledge added a lot to the trip, and his ability to read people’s levels of effort and adjust / accommodate on the fly was impressive!

Graham was terrific. He asked our opinion and was sensitive to our needs. There was only one day when we felt rushed due to timing of a ferry, but I wasn't sure why the rush given that there were ferries later in the day (day of hike to Dun Caan). I loved that he stopped for coffee, etc., as an add on when we requested that. We could not have asked for a better guide.

Both were very compassionate and accommodating where they could be for the slowest hikers (me) in the group. They were also great in assisting in ways to help us get to the next accommodation when they recommended we skip or cut short that day's hike so that they weren't kept so far behind the rest of the group (for safety reasons).

Craig, our guide, deserves the highest rating possible for our trip. He was always professional yet personable and warm at the same time. His knowledge base is vast and deep, and he clearly is passionate about Scotland, its history, land, and people. He communicated complex information succinctly and clearly, and also displayed a wry sense of humor (e.g., "How's that poncho workin' out for ya?" in 100-mile/hour gale force winds. . .) He seemed to really key in on the abilities/limits of each person in our 8-member group without ever holding anyone back. I really appreciated how Craig managed to have us have fun when weather conditions were truly challenging. On a scale of 1 tof 10, with 10 being excellent, I'd give Craig 100!
