    Mini Bio

Regarding my adventure journey, some people say I’ve been lucky. But I say it’s about making my own luck in pursuit of adventure. Pursuing a professional career in engineering was a choice, but I always knew it was secondary to my passion to be outside exploring and learning new skills. I’d joke about returning to work on a Monday morning for a rest after the weekend’s activities. From an early age, I’d divert much-needed funds and time into adventures around caving, kayaking, cycling, mountaineering, skiing, flying, and travelling. As life moved on the adventures continued and widened into various corners of the world, with so many places and adventures still remaining.

    Places to Play

The British Isles – almost anywhere where there’s water and rock.

    Not many people know this

I’d left the aircraft at 15000’ with an intention of opening my parachute at 3000’. With an unexpected total malfunction less than 12 seconds from the ground, I decided it was no time to panic.

Mark Joyce did it all: accommodated idiosyncratic interests and needs (like providing a separate route for one hiker who preferred a less strenuous day, and showing me where to replace my lost phone charger on the way to meet the van); assisted a hiker (not in our group) who had taken a nasty fall; made alternative itineraries to match the weather and the time; and told the most interesting travel stories ever!
