    Mini Bio

Variety and people are big motivators for me, so I have worked in health care, education and most recently agriculture. In the 90s, I went to work in Europe but missed the diverse landscape and proximity to the sea. One of my best decisions was to return to live in the Highlands.

    Place to Play

Sutherland is my long term favourite, but anywhere handy to Inverness, where I now live.

I’m named after an island near Skye, possibly meaning ‘rough island’ in old Norse.

    Biggest Adventure Read More

4 weeks exploring the Andes on my own, reaching heights over 5,600 metres. Being a Scot, of course, I had to hire the cheapest car to get to these remote areas. Half the adventure became driving steep unsurfaced roads in a 1000cc.

    Adventurer's Stories about Rhona

Rhona went out of her way to make sure the needs of everyone in the group were catered for. Her serenity in the face of potential problems and her ability to solve them was impressive. The only issue was that she encouraged us to eat too much!

Rhona was superb - she was very good natured and catered to our various needs.

My guides on both trips were top quality. They couldn't be better in any respect and are a credit to Wilderness Scotland.

Rhona is a great guide. She went out of her way to ensure all members of the group enjoyed the days according to their level of fitness and was flexible in changing planned activities as needed. She was very knowledgeable about the area and managed to arrange some extra fun activities for our group to experience, such as an evening with the Orkney Accordion and Fiddle Club. In addition to being a good guide, Rhona also was very sociable in the group, so it felt like she was one of us, rather than just an organiser (which I have felt others have sometimes been on previous guided holidays). She's a star.
