Originally from Edinburgh I moved to the West Highlands in 2010 leaving behind a staff nurse post to go back to university. Four years later I had a degree in Adventure Tourism Management (a degree in having fun) and had started working as a guide.

I now spend much of year guiding and the rest working as a technician in theatre and live events. How I got into this work is a whole other story!  Nursing was a career that I am really glad to have experienced however the chance to follow a passion was too great and I am now really happy in everything I do for a living.

      Place to play

Wherever the wind takes me. I do have my favourite parts of Scotland and the UK but there are still many places I haven’t been and I absolutely love getting to explore somewhere completely new. I’m a big fan of mountain ridges but also quite fond of my couch with a good book and a cup of tea.

Not a lot of people know this

I sometimes work in fireworks and pyrotechnics and have worked on some of the biggest shows in the UK including the London Eye New Year display and the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Can be messy graft but fun too.

As mentioned earlier, we had a helpful guide who went out of her way to make sure things ran smoothly. However, we were disappointed at the flora and wildlife info.

It is great to hear that you had a good time in the Outer Hebrides, it is such a special place. Our guides will always try and answer questions you may have about flora and fauna of the local area. If they do not know the answer straight away they will always find out for you.

Our guide was very good in terms of looking after us, but we did waste a lot of time waiting for lunch stops. I assume this is not the guides fault but it might be worthwhile looking at how you provide the mid-day meal.

We had 2 days of guided hikes with Susie in Glencoe and these were my favorite days of the trip! We explored areas we wouldn't have known to go and did some fantastic hiking. Susie was wonderful to talk with and she knew a lot about the area.

I think Susie did an excellent job of accommodating everyone’s wishes. She worked very hard, in Inverness she took time to drop everyone off at their individual hotels.
