    Mini Bio

Originally from Edinburgh I moved to the West Highlands in 2010 leaving behind a staff nurse post to go back to university. Four years later I had a degree in Adventure Tourism Management (a degree in having fun) and had started working as a guide.

I now spend much of year guiding and the rest working as a technician in theatre and live events. How I got into this work is a whole other story!  Nursing was a career that I am really glad to have experienced however the chance to follow a passion was too great and I am now really happy in everything I do for a living.

    Favourite Place to Play

Wherever the wind takes me. I do have my favourite parts of Scotland and the UK but there are still many places I haven’t been and I absolutely love getting to explore somewhere completely new. I’m a big fan of mountain ridges but also quite fond of my couch with a good book and a cup of tea.

Not a lot of People Know This

I sometimes work in fireworks and pyrotechnics and have worked on some of the biggest shows in the UK including the London Eye New Year display and the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Can be messy graft but fun too.

Susie was a fantastic guide. She provided just the right amount of information and instruction, while also making sure to line up the desired archeological sites in the most suitable and available order. Our walks were perfectly arranged in order to maximize viewing and our own sense of confidence. Susie was also a delightful companion and provided the perfect amount of Scottish color to our meals and walks. Finally, Susie handled quite well the difficult matter of one of our trip companions testing positive for covid during the trip.

Susie is a star. She made every rainy hike fun and every sunny afternoon magical. She was a good sport as we teased her a lot and she went along with the fun. She always had a good spirit, a smiling face and an alternative plan if we were not game for more wind and rain walking. We toughed it out and the views were spectacular. Great job Susie.

Suzie was our guide and despite not having coordinated a trip for some while due to Covid measures and last minute changes to the staffing of our trip, did an exceptional job. Never seemingly tired after driving many miles and always enthusiastic and keen to share knowledge. Both Suzie and Don worked extremely hard to give our group the best experience despite Covid measures in place which understandably were followed religiously. I really appreciated speaking to guides from Scotland and realising their obvious love and devotion to the natural world and being so generous in sharing that with us. Don was so knowledgeable about the fauna, really a potential trip in itself!

    TEAM WILDERNESS RESPONSE

It is great to hear that you had a good time in the Outer Hebrides, it is such a special place. Our guides will always try and answer questions you may have about flora and fauna of the local area. If they do not know the answer straight away they will always find out for you.
