We are delighted to announce that Wilderness Scotland has been awarded the 5 star Responsible Tourism rating from AITO (Association of Independent Tour Operators). This is the top possible award and it is help by only a few tour operators from around the world, so we are proud to have our policies and practices recognised at the highest level.

Green tourism and responsible travel are also key concerns for AITO and its members.  The sustainable travel guidelines for its members were based upon 5 key objectives: to protect the environment; to respect local cultures; to benefit local communities; to conserve natural resources and to minimise pollution.

Within these wider issues we also had to fulfil a number of criteria covering: responsible tourism policies, implementation of sustainable office practice, communication with customers, environmental practice and practical destination activity.

Like AITO, we recognise that the natural environment is our greatest asset and we need to do all we can to protect and preserve this through an integrated approach to responsible travel. Over time we hope that other companies will be encouraged to follow more sustainable procedures.

However, we are delighted to be able to say with confidence that if you choose to travel with Wilderness Scotland, you can be sure that your holiday will be operated to the highest standards of responsible tourism.
