    Mini Bio

I grew up constantly moving around, both in the UK and overseas. I never quite grew out of this habit until I landed back in my ancestral homeland of the Scottish Highlands.

Always drawn to the outdoors and adventure (and never far from a bike), I studied for a degree in Outdoor Studies and have since been working in the outdoors as a Mountain Bike Leader, guide, and expedition leader for the past 15 years in both the UK and overseas.

I love to explore wild spaces, usually by bike or on foot; I’ve sought this by travelling the world over, competing in some of the world’s toughest self-supported bikepacking races and leading groups in destinations such as Peru, Bolivia, Morocco, Nepal & Finland. Some of my greatest personal adventures have been here in the Scottish Highlands. I’ve been lucky to make the region my home with my wife, dogs, and two budding ‘adventure toddlers’.

    Favourite Place to Play

You can’t beat a good day up high on the West Coast! Living just 45 minutes from Torridon, I get out this way as much as possible.

Not a lot of People Know This

I’ve (probably) had the most extended cycling honeymoon ever. We rode our bikes for two years, 22,000 km/13,700 miles, and through 20 countries from the UK to end up in New Zealand with not much money and more than our fair share of cycling adventure stories!

Aside from the 22,000 km/13,700 mile honeymoon bike tour, and completing some of the world’s toughest bike races – including The Silk-Road Mountain Race, The Atlas Mountain Race, and the Highland Trail 550 – my biggest adventure has undoubtedly been introducing my two little adventure buddies, Pip & Mae, to the world and watching them (& me) grow in the process.

I’m currently studying for a PGcert in ‘Outdoor and Adventure Therapeutic Practice’, and I’m fascinated by the power a connection to nature and the outdoors can have in all our lives. I also love understanding where we came from, so local history is of great interest to me.

What Fellow Travellers Say About Pete

As noted previously Pete was super. Extremely conscientious in taking care of us and our needs and in preparing for each day. We trusted him completely. He did more research than we expected and loved our interaction with him. What could he do better? Can’t think of anything.

    Make Trip Private

Sometimes it's nice to get family and friends together and travel privately for some quality time. This means you benefit from all the features of the group departure, including hand-picked accommodation and expert local guides and we'll take care of it all. Then you can make your choice of departures dates and we'll get back to you to finalise the details.

We work together with our team of guides to decide which departures they lead each year. As part of that, guides provide available dates that they are free to be booked. This means that any of the dates you see in the first field of the form below, could be perfect for your private departure or customised tour.
