 Client Kudos

Every client receives a feedback survey when they return from their guided, self guided or tailor made holiday with us.

Once completed the review is published on our website just as soon as our database updates. The little touches and details are important to us and where issues are raised we make positive changes to our trips to improve your experience.

That’s why we read each of our client’s reviews and although we don’t respond to all of them, if it’s glowing feedback then we get the satisfaction of helping to make your holidays truly memorable.

Independent Wilderness Scotland Reviews

If you would like to read independent reviews of our holidays then you can do just that over on the AITO website (Association of Independent Tour Operators).

The sower took a long time to warm up and was only just hot enough on some occasions.

There was a bit of confusion dealing with the website and a couple of errant emails

The scenery was fantastic and truly wilderness. The bed and breakfasts were all very good.
Accommodation and Food
Very good. Hosts were very nice, especially St Anthony's and Tigh na Fraoch.
Your Guide
The route notes were generally good although some times a bit vague as to distance. The bullets sometimes implied that a landmark was coming up when in fact it was several miles away. This caused a bit of confusion. On the last day prior to the descent into Fort William there was also an unmarked junction that was a bit difficult to sort. It was quite a remote spot and we were fortunate to have a biker come through and confirm our path.
The Bottom Line
Very good.

David was very responsive and encouraged us to talk via phone. This was more helpful than the email answers I got from other companies.

We did a self guided walk.. We didn't easily remember the name of the firm moving the luggage, and so we were apprehensive that the luggage would be picked up the first day, but after that we relaxed.
Accommodation and Food
We paid extra for the 'top' accommodations. Except for Drymen, we were very happy with the inns. We particularly liked the Creagan house. We were disappointed not to be able to eat at the restaurant at Callander Meadows. The rooms at Drymen Inn were tiny; and the breakfast was extremely slow.

The rucksack book had good notes. we found 2 places were confusing; both on the last day. 1. the car park the last day where the Scottish Canoe Association is (we missed the hard left turn). 2. In Pitlochry, after exiting BobbinHill wood, you need to keep hard right to find the RR bridge. After hiking other places in Scotland, we were also impressed with the way marking signs, even with out the book we would have been able to follow the route.

It would have been helpful to know the few places there was water available; One was at the Canoe Association caravan park (Day 7). The other was between Callander and Strathyre at the Forest Holiday Caverns.

David helped me figure out we could shorten the long walk on the road on Loch Tay by having the car pick us up in Ardeonaig instead of Ardtalnaig. We liked the pub/hotel at Ardeonaig. The next day we started at the Crannog Center, which was marvelous.
The Bottom Line
We appreciated the luggage transfers and the hotel planning. The pre-trip info from Wilderness Scotland was good. Julie made us dinner reservations which I appreciated. The route info was good too; but we could have gotten that from anybody. We might have liked a check-in during the trip via email.

Well organised trip, excellent guide. Clientele on this trip seemed to be people who were completely new to the area and terrain (this is not a negative point, just something I'm not familiar with)

Always cheerful and enthusiastic
Hard trip for him as planning was difficult due to to the high winds making higher points almost inaccessible

We would have appreciated significantly more detail on the itinerary. In particular, we would have liked a paper copy a few weeks before the tour.
Trip Comments
The best thing about the tour was our guide, Pete Grant. He was indeed excellent in every way. The hotel was very good, though service at meals sometimes a bit slow. The outings were always interesting and the walks within our capacity.
